Mia's POV...

I spent most of my night in Natasha's room drinking wine and just letting everything out. She had no reason to be so kind to me yet she was. We talked about what Tony said to me and we even talked about Bucky. So far she was the only one making me feel truly welcome here. Steve had to some extent but now he wanted to date and I'm not sure I can get on board with that. Tony and Bucky had made me feel like a total outsider here. The worst part is since it's their team and I'm the new kid, it's likely that it'll stay that way. I got Steve's message about training while I was standing in Fury's office. "I understand that you were upset but you cannot attack your teammates."

"I know that, I didn't mean to but all he's done since I got here is be cruel to me. He's trying to make me hate it here for no reason, I don't even know him."

"He and your dad have a... history. Give Barnes a chance, I think you'll find you two are more alike than you think. You'll want to learn how to play nice though since your first mission is with Barnes, Wilson, and Romanoff."

"Great." I huffed at having to spend time with thing 2 and 3 but at least I had Natasha

"You'll get your assignment by the end of the day from Captain Rogers." I turned to leave but he spoke again. "Oh and Stark, don't hurt anyone today during training. Actually, I think it'd be best if you train by yourself for a few days. Go with the group but don't train with anyone."

"Is Bucky being forced to train by himself?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"He didn't attack anyone."

I didn't bother to try and reason with Fury, I just walked to the gym and went to the corner. While everyone else piled in and started warming up together, I stayed in the corner to do my stretches. They all paired off and trained but I trained with a sandbag and boxing gloves. It wasn't so bad but I knew multiple people were staring at me curiously. The main person I noticed was Bucky. Every time I glanced over at the rest of the group, he was looking at me. "Are you sure you don't want to train with me?" Natasha asked softly

"I don't want to piss off Fury."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll tell you later but I'm supposed to be training alone."

"Alright, I'll hold you to it."

I smiled at her half-heartedly so she'd think I was okay and let me get back to training. The last thing I need is Bucky or someone else ratting me out to Fury. I looked back over just in time to see Bucky almost get nailed in the face by Sam. He dodged it but I laughed softly to myself. When training ended it was my goal to dart out but Steve came up to me instead. "Hey."

"Hi, Steve. What's up?"

"I just wanted to talk for a minute."

"Is this about what I talked to Fury about before training?"

"No, but for the record, I plead your case about that. I wanted to revisit the idea of going on a date."

I forced a smile and prayed he couldn't tell how not into him I was. "Did you think of some details?"

"Tomorrow night I'd like to take you to dinner at 6 pm. It'll be somewhere nice and a proper date with no funny business."

As much as I wanted to say no, I thought about what Natasha told me last night. "Steve's a good guy, yes he's vanilla and sometimes he's boring but at least you'd always have someone to be there for you. He'd always take care of you and defend you from anyone, including Bucky and Tony. Just because you don't have feelings for him now doesn't mean you never will. Those can grow over time and hey, it's not like he's ugly either. My point is he may not be what you want but maybe he's what you need."
