Chapter 66

Mia's POV...

When we stood to leave Tony stopped me and asked me to hang back. We went into the living room and I sat down while he stayed standing. "What's going on? Is something wrong?" I asked

"No, I just want to talk."

"About?"

"Are you sure about all of this stuff with Bucky? You're talking about buying a house, getting married, and having kids. It's a lot to think about."

"This again?" I groaned and tried to stand

"I'm not questioning if you're sure about Bucky, that's clear. You just got back, I don't want you to rush into anything."

"I'm sure and plus it's not like we're talking about having kids anytime soon. He might be okay with the idea but he needs more time before I think he'll be truly ready for marriage and kids. I'm not ready for it either. Don't get me wrong, I would marry him in a heartbeat because I know that he's it for me but I'm not ready for kids."

"Good, I agree that neither of you are ready."

"You're really not going to fight me about Bucky?"

"No, Mia. I've seen firsthand how much that man loves you and how well he takes care of you. Now if that ever changes, I'm not afraid to lay him out again but for now, no. I trust him to take care of you and love you. He was devastated when we thought you were dead and he's taken every challenge that's met you since you came back in stride. All I ever wanted was for you to be happy sweetheart."

"I am. I mean, it's hard to feel happy all the time but the few times I've felt happy since I've been back have all been with him. He's my home, dad."

"Good, I always hoped you'd get it right the first try unlike me."

"What Mom wasn't your happy ever after?" I teased

"No, and the only reason I don't regret it is because we had you and your brother."

"I can't say I blame you, especially after the way she acted at my funeral."

"Does she know you're not dead?"

"Nope, I don't know if I should even bother to tell her. It doesn't seem like she would care much given that she told me not to contact her again if I came here."

"She's ridiculous."

"Yep."

"I think you should tell her though because I know firsthand how bad it feels to think you're dead and no one deserves that."

"You mean you missed me and my smart mouth."

"Well you got that smart mouth from me and of course I did. You're still my little girl and you always will be." 

"Do you really want to go to therapy with me?"

"Yes, I think it'll be good for both of us. It's up to you though, I know that this stuff is sensitive and you may not want to share any of it with me. If you need Barnes to be there too that's fine."

"You'd go to therapy with me and Bucky?"

"Yes."

"Oh wow, you do love me a lot."

"Yes, dear."

"Well, I do actually need a nap so I will see you in my lab tomorrow after therapy."

"Okay, do you want me to help you back out there?"
