Bucky's POV...

I didn't even bother to leave my room until the funeral and even then I sat in the back with a bottle of whisky and rolled my eyes at everyone. People were saying nice things about her and I knew I should be glad but it made me angry because she felt so unwanted while she was alive. Here were all of these people saying how much they cared for her and how much joy she brought them but they never bothered to tell her. Then again who am I to talk because I never told her that I loved her. Natasha didn't bother to talk and nor did Wanda which surprised me but maybe they knew she wouldn't want us to do it. Tony's speech was probably the only one that didn't upset me. "I don't think I should even be allowed up here because honestly I was a shitty dad and because of it I've lost both my kids. There isn't anything I can say at this point about her or to her so I'll just say that we should all hold our loved ones a little closer. Make sure you tell people how you feel at every chance you get because you never know when it'll be your last chance. Mia was a genius and beautiful and funny but she was also one of the most passionate and empathetic people I've ever met. She'd do anything for those she loves, including die for them. I'm gonna miss the shit out of her."

For the first time it felt like Tony and I were on the same side and that he was the only person I could turn to. We'd barely finished the service at the compound when Friday alerted us to activity at the front door. "Mr. Stark, there is someone at the door."

"Who is it Friday?"

"Your ex wife."

"Let her in."

"Wait as in Mia's mom?" I asked

"The one and only."

Her mom came in the door screaming. Mia looked a lot more like her dad than her mom which surprised me because I never saw a lot of Tony's appearance in her. The one exception was her eyes, they looked startlingly like Mia's. "Anthony Edward Stark, what did you do?"

"I didn't do anything."

"First you kill our son and now our daughter too? You couldn't let me have one child, just one?"

"You know I never wanted to hurt either of them, I'm just as crushed as you are. Probably more actually because I was actually here for her and spoke to her."

"She hated you."

"We were working on it, she even called me dad a few times lately. I was making the effort to get to know her better and be there for her."

"I knew if she came here with you she'd end up dead or injured."

"I tried to protect her, I did but we have a job to do and the thing I hate about this job most is that people die." Tony screamed back, his face turning red.

"Well, you failed...again. I put her on a good path, I wasted so much time and money trying to educate her just for her to turn out as stupid as you."

My blood was boiling but I'd been trying to mind my business. That went out the window as soon as she called Mia stupid. I was between them in a flash. "You have no right to talk about her like that. She was not stupid, she was the smartest person I've ever met and the kindest. All she wanted was to save people, to have a purpose, and to feel like she belonged. Her whole life you made her feel unwanted, unloved, unworthy and you have the audacity to show up here blaming her father? Who was here when it counted to her. You pushed her away, you were the one who was cold and cruel to her. And yeah Tony's a dick but at least it was because he cared."

She looked startled and maybe even a little afraid but she had the same fire Mia does. "And who are you to speak to me this way? You don't even know my daughter like I do."
