Chapter 62

The lady that Bucky found to help with my hair came in and managed to get it all unknotted. She also taught Bucky how to braid my hair so he could help me keep it out of my face while I was recovering. Every day since she'd shown him, he's taken my hair down to brush it and then braided it again. It takes him a couple of tries but he's getting better and I think he's starting to like it. I know, I'm definitely enjoying him playing with my hair all the time. Note to self...ask Bucky to pull my hair more once we start having sex again. He's been by my side the entire nearly three weeks I've been at the hospital. Today is the day I finally get to go home. I've been asking every five minutes if we can go yet and I know Buck and Tony both are getting sick of me asking. "There's not going to be some big welcome party when I get there right?"

"No."

"Good because I just want to take a nap in my own bed."

"In our bed." Bucky told me softly

"I want to see Alpine too, I've missed her so much too."

"No party but when you're feeling better we will." Tony assured

"Thank you."

"I just want to see anything other than the inside of this hospital." Buck half laughed

"Me too."

When it was finally time for us to go, Bucky didn't say anything just picked me up bridal style and carried me out. The doctor tried to tell him to let me walk but he ignored them. He knew I was pushing myself to do my physical therapy stuff and was too tired to walk all the way out. Tony drove us back while Buck stayed in the backseat with me and let me sit as close to one top of him as I could. Everyone was waiting to greet us but after a quick hug from everyone, Bucky ushered me past them and to our new room. The bedroom was still the same but it connected to a living room that used to be my room and my bathroom has been turned into a closet. There wasn't a wall between the rooms anymore just an open space that was all ours. Alpine meowed when she heard the door open and I immediately saw her sitting on the bed. She jumped right up and was at my feet stretching up, trying to get to me. I happily scooped her up and helped her tight while she purred and slammed her head into me over and over again. She chirped quite a bit while I scratched her ears and I noticed Buck smiling at us. It was probably a good 15 minutes or so before she let me put her down and I immediately hobbled my way over to the bed. I practically flopped onto the bed. "Oh thank fuck, I've missed this bed. I think I need to sleep for like two days straight."

"Go right ahead, I'll only wake you up for your meds and some food."

"All I've done is sleep for three weeks, I'm sure you're bored. Why don't you go hang out with Sam or Steve maybe while I nap?"

"Because I want to be here with you."

"But I know they both miss you."

"Let them, they'll live. Once you're feeling better I'll humor Sam."

"Not Steve though?"

He huffed as he joined me on the bed, laying with one arm over my torso so his head was right below my chest. My hand immediately started playing with his hair as he got settled. "You've been home for 30 minutes and you're already meddling."

"Because he's your best friend, nay your brother and you're being so stubborn about this. If I've forgiven him then you can too."

"He hurt you."

"He slapped me which was wrong and fucking hurt but in the grand scheme of things, it's not that bad. How many times does he have to apologize before you believe he's actually sorry."
