Bucky's POV...
Mia and I stayed in bed looking at houses together and saving a few to go look at. It was surreal to be like this with her now, just totally open. She made me try a little bit of everything that she ordered and I have to say I understand the appeal of it all. Even if I hated it, I would've pretended to like it just to see the look in her eyes when I liked something. She was so excited and her eyes lit up when I tried something new. If only she knew how much I missed the little things about her like the ways her eyes sparkle when she's excited or that little smile she tries to hide. How could anyone not fall in love with her instantly? Why did she fall in love with me as hard as I fell for her? As long as I live, I'll know the answer to that question but as long as it stays true, I don't think I need to. While the last 80 years or so of my life have been severely lacking in the joy department, I think someone sent her to me to make up for it. This feisty little woman is the definition of joy, well the definition of my joy at least. Today was the first day that I felt like I got to see a little glimmer of Mia shining through the pain and I want to cherish it because I know how hard the road ahead of her is. Regardless of how hard it gets, I'll be right here at her side until she tells me otherwise, and maybe even then.
"Buck are you sure you want to come to dinner with my dad?" Mia asked as she lay across our bed
"I mean I don't want to have dinner with Tony but he and I both are going to have to get over ourselves. If you don't want me to go that's fine, just tell me."
"No, I absolutely want you to go but I don't want to force you."
I chuckled lightly and laid down so I was beside her on my stomach so I could grab her face. "You silly stubborn woman, I'll do anything for you. We're going to go have a nice dinner and I promise that I will play nice unless he starts insulting you. That's where I draw the line."
"Okay. Can we go to my lab first? I want to see how the first trial of the brace is turning out."
"Yeah, I'll take you down there now."
"Thank you."
I didn't respond, I just kissed her briefly before scooping her up under her knees with an arm around her back. She giggled the way she always does when I picked her up and all I could do was smile as I took her out of the room. Most people would probably just leave her in her lab and go do anything else but I enjoy watching her while she thinks. Everything about her is adorable, the way her forehead creases when she's thinking really hard, how she taps he foot or finger when she's getting close to having an idea, and even the way she hunches over in her seat to get up close to see details. I wonder if she's this obsessed with me or if I'm just getting into creepy territory. "So is it done?" I asked as she looked it over
"No, I just 3D printed the shell to fit my leg and now I have to make it so it can help me walk. That part I have to do by myself because I don't trust Tony's robots to do it."
"Is it hard?"
"Not really, it might take me a few hours but I've already started building that part. It's pretty simple actually, just takes time to figure out how to walk with it."
"Will it help you get better or just make it so you can walk?"
"I'll still have to use my leg but it will make it so I don't need crutches or a walker. It's not going to be like Rhoadey's because his braces are doing the walking since he's paralyzed. I just need a little bit of help until my leg is ready. So it'll be like an easier version of physical therapy then I will still go to it like normal, don't worry."
"It's not a choice, I'm a lot stronger than you and I will drag you there."
"Don't forget I do have superpowers."
