Chapter 20

I did my best to avoid Bucky the next day and it seemed to be working because I hadn't seen him come out of his room at all. Was he mad at me for last night? I'm sure mad at myself about it. He has nothing to be mad about, we're not dating and we're definitely not exclusive. Around dinner time I decided I should check on him so I knocked on his door. It took a few times of knocking for him to open the door and he looked a mess when he did. "Hey, Cyborg."

"What do you want Mia?"

"I came to check in on you since I hadn't seen you around yet today. Do you want to come eat dinner with me?"

"No."

"Okay well, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Are you upset about something?"

"Just leave me alone Stark."

He tried to shut the door but I stuck my hand in the way and he stopped. I pushed past him and into his room where I plopped down on the bed with Alpine. "Get out."

"Talk to me."

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Clearly there is."

Before I knew it there was a hand around my throat and I was being pulled to my feet. "I told you to get out and now you've pissed me off."

"I'm not scared of you and I know you're not going to hurt me Bucky."

The hand on my throat tightened but I stayed completely relaxed and gently sat my hand on his wrist while the other reached for his face. "You have no idea what I'm capable of."

"You don't have to act like this, you know I like your hand around my throat but not when it's meant to scare or hurt me. If you need to squeeze something then take my hand and squeeze that. You don't have to try to prove you're a monster because you're not and I will never believe it."

His grip loosened and I took a sharp breath now that my air wasn't restricted. Before he could pull away, I grabbed his hand in mine and let our fingers intertwine. "What's wrong?"

"Why don't you go running back to that guy from last night and ask him."

"That's what this is about?" 

"You ignored me all night and then fucked another guy."

"May I remind you that we're not dating and you have no say over who I sleep with? I've offered you that privilege and that right but you turned it down. Plus it was one time and I spent the whole time wishing it was you instead." I confessed

"You really need to work on your taste in men, princess."

"Hey, at least this time I finished unlike with Steve."

"Don't tell me that."

"You're jealous."

"No."

"Yes you are the worst part is if you'd just fuck me already then I would've happily been in your bed last night. I don't want to be anyone else's bed and I know I'm not supposed to say that but it's true."

"Fine, I'm a little jealous."

"I know and I'm sorry if I upset you but you can't expect me to not talk to or sleep with other men, Buckaroo."

"I know."

"So can we please go eat dinner?"

"I don't want to go downstairs, I think that guy is still here and if I see him staring at you then I may act up."

"Then we'll go somewhere else and get some food. We can sneak out the back like teenagers and go get something."

"One condition."
