Chapter 9

Bucky's POV...

This damn woman is going to be the reason I go insane. She can't ever just behave and now I've got her pinned in a corner while she stares up at me in shock. If we didn't have to be on the jet in 15 minutes, I may have just taken her to my room, and based on her response, I think she'd have let me. Her saying yes sir to me stirred something inside of me and I couldn't help but call her a good girl. The lust in her eyes was clear as we stood so close that I could hear her heart hammering against her chest. Even though her heartbeat was erratic, it was calming to me to hear it. It reminded me that she was real and her reactions to my closeness were real. Maybe she wasn't as bad as I thought, she looked so innocent at that moment as she just stared up at me. Her eyes were locked on mine and I couldn't help but get lost in them. No one ever talks about how beautiful brown eyes can be but even in the dim light of the kitchen, her chocolate-colored eyes were enchanting. But it was more than the color, it was the look in her eyes that was a mix of lust, confusion, and excitement. I about forgot why I was even here as I searched her eyes, trying to count the golden specs that highlighted her eyes. Even when I brushed her hand with my metal one, I felt it, the little spark. Surely that was just her right? But I was holding her face and she wasn't shocking me. I felt a tingle when I touched her but maybe that was just her powers. 

When I left the kitchen I almost ran into Sam who just stared at me. "Not a word, go to the jet," I said as I pushed his shoulder

"What did I just see?" he asked as we walked toward the jet

"Nothing, I was just reminding her that she needs to be serious on the mission and all the fun and games stop when we leave."

"Did you have to do it while you were standing that close to her?"

"I wasn't that close."

"Bucky, you were practically on top of her. Is something going on between you two? I thought she was dating Steve."

"Nothing is going on, this is my mission and I want to make sure everyone is on their best behavior. You are reading into things and she isn't dating Steve, they went on one date."

"Yeah but he's smitten with her."

I rolled my eyes because of course Steve would try and find some way to lay a claim over her because he slept with her once and took her on some stuffy ass date. "Him being smitten with her doesn't mean their dating or that the feelings even go both ways. Why are we talking about Steve right now?"

"Because if he saw how close you were to Mia, he'd be upset and hurt because he likes her."

"He doesn't own her and it doesn't matter because nothing is going on between us."

"Oh come on Bucky, you two are always flirting with each other and your eyes are glued to the woman every chance you get. Why can't you admit that you might feel a little something for her?"

"I've known her for a week and the only thing I feel for her is annoyance."

Sam grabbed my arm and pulled me to stop. "Seriously man, everyone can see the two of you watching each other. You two are probably incredibly compatible, way more than she and Steve. She's going to chew him up and spit him back out for the way he'd treat her and everyone knows it. He's not her type but I think you are. The first time she noticed you on her first day, she couldn't stop looking at you."

"Sam, I've known her for a week and sure she's nice to look at but I don't feel anything for her and she doesn't feel anything for me. Just drop it, I'm not going to date little Stark."

"What if she wasn't a Stark?"

"What do you mean?"

"If her last name wasn't Stark, would you give her a chance?"
