22) Budding Friendship

'Silent and Uncomfortable' that's how you could describe the entire car ride. Jungkook felt like he had been sitting in the car for hours when in reality it has only been five minutes. He even felt afraid to breathe incase it woke up the sleeping monster or in his case, Jimin. So, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that he was relieved to see his destination come into view.

As soon as Jimin stopped the car, he jumped out, muttering a thank you, almost making a run for the front door, taking Eunie with him.

"Hey wait." Jimin called out seeing Jungkook walk away. Jungkook stopped on his tracks, hearing Jimin call him and turned around looking at him questioningly.

"Do you mind if I come in?" Jungkook looked at him not knowing what to answer.

"Uhm, but Hyung is not at home." he said, cringing at his stupidity. Of Course Jimin would already know that Taehyung won't be home at this time. If he was, why would he even be asking him if he could come inside.

"Yes, I know that. I actually wanted to talk to you. So, can I come in?" Jimin asked once again, seeing the hesitation in Jungkook's eyes. Seeing that Jimin was waiting for his answer, he gave a small hesitant nod, asking him to come in. it wasn't like he had any choice in the matter anyway.

Eunie ran off to her room as soon as Jungkook opened the door leaving just the two of them behind. Jimin went towards the living room, while Jungkook ran off into the kitchen with an excuse to get something to drink, to prepare himself mentally for whatever comes ahead. While Jungkook was trying to get himself together, Jimin's condition was no better too. He didn't know trying to apologize would be this hard.

'Get your shit together Jimin. All you have to do is say sorry. As simple as that. Oh God, why is this so hard?' Jungkook walked into the living room carrying some juice only to find Jimin murmuring to himself. He cleared his throat, gaining his attention and offered Jimin the juice which he gulped down in seconds.

"Uhhh, thank you, I needed that." Jimin said, wiping his mouth while Jungkook just stood there not really knowing what to do.

"Why don't you take a seat?" Jimin said, patting the couch. Jungkook sat down after hesitating a bit, sitting at the very end of the couch as far away from Jimin as possible. They both kept stealing glances at each other like some teenage girl watching her crush when Jimin had enough of his own stupidity and bursted out.

"I'M SORRY." Jungkook jumped at the sudden shout and landed on the floor on his butt, looking at Jimin who seemed to have frozen in his place. He winced trying to get up, bringing Jimin out of his frozen state.

"Oh my God, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. Here, let me help you up." Jimin said, rushing to help him up. Jungkook was more embarrassed than hurt to be honest. I mean who the hell gets startled by a mere sound and fall on their butt.

After the initial awkwardness was over, they both settled back on the couch once again, but this time Jungkook was sitting a bit more closer to Jimin, not to have a repeat of what happened.

"Look, I'm not good with all this so, I'm just going to get to the point. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for how I've been treating you, for being rude to you and especially for what happened yesterday. You cooked all those delicious food and I ended up ruining a perfect dinner by being mean to you. It was wrong of me to blame you for my own fears and insecurities.

To be honest, I wasn't worried about you getting close to them or Eunie getting attached to you, I was worried about what'll happen when you'd have to leave them. So, in a way I thought that if I'm mean to you, then maybe you'll have enough and quit this job before they get too attached to you. Taehyung and Eunie are my family. Just like Taehyung, I too lost my parents when I was very young and from childhood we've been together through everything. I practically grew up in this house with him, so it's safe to say that they both mean a lot to me.
