71) Farewell

The atmosphere around Jeon's dining table was awkward and tense. No one knew how to start a conversation. The entire family was gathered at the dining room including Jungkook and Taehyung along with Jimin and Yoongi too. As decided, Jungkook and Taehyung agreed to stay with the Jeon's for a few days and they forced Jimin and Yoongi to tag along too. Eunie was looking at all the new faces in the room with curious eyes as she sat cuddled up on Jungkook's lap. Taehyung on the other hand was quietly eating the food that was served in front of him, wanting to get away from there as soon as possible. The tension was killing him.

"Did someone die?" Jimin asked, unable to keep quiet anymore. He was fed up with the entire family. 'Why even call them home if they were going to act like they don't exist?' he thought.

"Jimin." Yoongi called out in a warning tone, making him shut his mouth.

"Eomma, who are they?" Eunie whispered in Jungkook's ears.

"Uhm, they're my family, Princess. They are my Eomma and Appa and that is my brother and his wife and their little baby, Hanie and that is my cousin brother and his husband." He explained, pointing them out to her.

"How old are you, baby?" Hyejin asked softly, looking at the little girl, who immediately buried her head in Jungkook's chest out of shyness.

"Don't be scared, Princess. That's my Eomma, you can answer her." Jungkook said, patting her back, who looked up from his chest and then towards Hyejin before answering "4" in a small voice.

"Oh, you're so cute, baby. You know our Hanie is 6 years old, so you can call him oppa. Would you like to go and play with your oppa? He has many toys that you can play with." Hyejin said, making Eunie's eyes go wide. She looked at Jungkook, who nodded his head before calling Hanie to him.

"Hanie baby, will you take care of your little sister and show her your toys?" Jungkook asked the little boy who nodded his head excitedly before taking Eunie's hand and pulling her with him. Taehyung felt happy that his Princess was opening up to others and was not shying away like she usually did. He looked at Jungkook and gave him a thankful smile, who smiled back, knowing what Taehyung was thinking.

"So, Taehyung, you're a doctor, right?" Jiwoo asked as soon as the kids were out of the way.

"Yes, Sir." He answered with a slight nervousness. He has never done this before. With EunBi, it was different. He had only met her parents once before getting married and even that couldn't be considered as a meeting since her parents didn't ask him anything as they were already impressed with him, considering he was a Doctor and they were pretty much on the same level, financially.

But, with Jungkook it was different. He was way above his league and he knew it perfectly. There is nothing he can give Jungkook that he doesn't have already and moreover, he comes with a whole load of baggage. So, impressing his parents has never been so important as it was at this point. He knew no matter what Jungkook would always choose him, but for some reason, he wants to impress his parents. He wants them to accept that he's a much better choice for Jungkook than anyone else. He wants them to accept him because they like him and not because Jungkook forced him on them.

"What's your specialty?" Another question came from Jiwoo breaking Taehyung out of his thoughts.

"I'm a Cardiac Surgeon, Mr. Jeon."

"Have you ever thought of working in Seoul? I don't think Daegu pays more than Seoul."

"I used to work in Seoul before, Mr. Jeon, but I quit my job to move back to Daegu." Now that answer surprised everyone. They didn't know that Taehyung used to work in Seoul., well except, Jimin, Yoongi and Jungkook.
