My eyes widened as my mouth fell open as I took in Wakanda. We were slowly descending to the tarmac below and I couldn't stop staring at everything around us. Bucky's hand squeezed my thigh gently, pulling me back to him. "I didn't believe Sam when he talked about this place." I said softly, leaning against his shoulder. "Wait until we're on the ground." A smile crossed my face at his words.

My grip on his hand tightened as we stepped onto the tarmac, trailing behind Ayo and flanked by more women who I could only assume were members of the Dora Milaje. With their beautiful rust red outfits and spears, shaved heads and a confidence I could only dream of having. "Seems you can't stay out of the fight, Sergeant Barnes." Ayo stepped aside and there in front of us, was king T'challa.

They embraced like brothers and I stood there, nervous because I felt so very out of place, like I didn't deserve to be there. "And this must be Lexy?" T'challa asked softly and I forced a smile and tiny wave in reply. "Steve and Sam spoke of you often, I am glad we can finally meet, though I wish it was under better circumstances." He carried himself exactly as I thought he would and his voice was deep yet sweet.

"So do I. But it's a absolute pleasure to meet you." He smiled warmly and bowed his head slightly before the girl next to him cleared her throat and stepped forward, thrusting her hand out to me. "Please ignore my brother and his formalities. He's still finding his feet, I'm Shuri." She smiled widely, her braided hair pulled into a high bun. I shook her hand gently and she pulled me closer, scanning me before she smiled even wider. "How did you like the bow?"

My mouth dropped open before I spun to Bucky and quickly opened the bag on his back and pulled the bow out, turning back to Shuri. "It's the most beautiful thing I own. You made it?" Her eyes fell to it before she snapped up smiling. "How does it handle? I'd love to know if I need to make adjustments for you." I quickly grabbed my quiver from the bag and smiled widely. "Is there somewhere I can practice for you?" She linked her arm in mine and dragged me towards the palace with her.

Standing in the open training room with Shuri felt oddly comforting. I'd missed training. "So just shoot the targets like normal? Nothing else?" I questioned her as I stood in the middle of the room while she moved to the glass screen on my left. We hadn't even waited for Bucky or T'challa and I wasn't sure if I'd now offended him in some way but I was with his sister so hopefully I hadn't. "Just as you would during any other training." She replied sternly as she fiddled with the hologram screen in front of her.

I shook my shoulders and nocked an arrow, holding my bow loosely in front of me. "Oh also." I looked at her, brows narrowed slightly. "The targets will move and fire back." And before I could respond she smiled and tapped the screen. Thankfully they were only holograms but I still felt like I was actually aiming at real people, dodging the spears and arrows that came back at me.

Left, right, down, up, drop, jump, spin. I moved like I hadn't moved with my bow before and my body was burning, sweat dripping down my face and by the time I stopped, I was bent over panting heavily. Clapping made me snap upright and T'challa was standing with Shuri and Bucky, clapping and smiling widely at me. "You are a natural." He moved closer and I smiled weakly, still breathing deeply. "I had a great teacher." I nodded to Bucky who just smirked slightly at me.
