This chapter is just beautiful in my opinion.
It's the growth and the hint of things to come that I do enjoy.

Hope you do my loves.

Enjoy.

After dinner I slowly made my way to our room. The exhaustion was making every step harder and harder to take and my eyes were getting heavier and heavier. "Lexy." I stopped and spun to that strong, assertive voice that belonged to Ayo. "Yes?" I asked hesitantly, a new found energy clearing my eyes and head.

"Walk with me." She continued past me and I quickly fell into step with her, wondering what it was that she wished to speak to me about. I was worried she didn't like me, didn't trust me and that was why she was always looking at me intently. We wound up on a balcony another floor up and she stood quietly, staring out at the night sky and I moved carefully to the railing and stared out too.

"You and Barnes." She finally spoke and I gripped the railing, turning to her slowly. Her eyes were on me, staring at me sideways and I exhaled shakily. "You care for him?" I nodded softly as I leant against the railing, rubbing my temples. "Absolutely. He is my best friend." I sighed deeply, watching the lights below us, the people still walking around when I felt Ayo move and I stood up, turning to her. She was facing me, her eyes watching mine seriously and I straightened up slightly. "Good. He needs that." She said quietly before she turned and left.

I stayed there for a few minutes, confused and tired before I finally returned to our room and entered quietly, unsure if Bucky was already asleep but he was just sitting on the bed, staring at the floor. "Is everything ok?" I asked quietly as I pulled the door closed and made my way over, dropping to the mattress next to him. He looked up at me with a concerned frown, his jaw slightly clenched before he turned to me and cupped my face.

"As ok as it can be." He said gruffly and I sighed slightly as I smiled weakly, grabbing his hands gently. "Look. You have been through a lot Buck, I know you can make it out of this." I said softly, being serious because he would, he would be fine. I got up and stretched, turning around, needing to get out of these boots.

"Are you ok? With all this?" He asked quietly and I turned my head slightly, looking at him over my shoulder. "Specifically?" He frowned deeply and got up. "All of it Lexy. You don't need to put the mask on around me." I sighed and turned to him, seeing the worry in his eyes.

"I chose to do this. This life. Did I think I'd be on the run, being hunted? No, not really but I knew there was a chance given the history. I'm fucking scared, but I'm not scared for myself, I'm scared for you." I whispered honestly, watching the tick in his jaw. "Being here, in Wakanda? I have definitely wanted to visit and I do wish it was under better circumstances but I won't lie, I'm glad I'm here." He smiled softly, dropping his head.

"As for you." I said softly, lifting his chin so he would look at me and I noticed his eyes were swimming with curiosity. "You are my best friend, Bucky. I will always have your back, regardless of how dangerous it is and I know, you know this." His mouth twitched slightly and I felt his fingers move to my hips but I leant back from his touch, slipping from his hands and he tilted his head slightly.

"You really are handling this better than I expected." He said quietly as he dropped his gaze. I smiled weakly as I gently punched his arm and he looked back up at me. "Because I got you." I said softly, smiling widely. "How are you?" I questioned him. He sighed deeply, his eyes darkening slightly and I moved, leading him to the bed and made him sit down.
