I felt a little dumbfounded after my visit with König. It was so sudden, and yet ended so quickly. I already felt myself growing anxious for his return, if he returned.
Would he actually come back?
That was the question in my mind for the rest of that day. From the moment he closed the door up, until i managed to fall asleep. Perhaps he wouldn't come back and he just said that for me to leave him alone, as to not pry and he could simply leave. Maybe i wouldn't ever see him again, and i would continue to be alone in this hospital until i was eventually kicked out. I'm not even sure why i was already so attached, i was just yearning for him to come back. I'm starting to think it's a weird trauma bond, except i was i was the only one with trauma from it, and he just thinks i'm a freak.
Did he visit every person he saved? Surely not.

"Goodmorning hun."
My eyes popped open, startled by the sudden voice in my ear. It was my nurse, the older one that always tended to me. She was standing next to my bed, leaned in close trying to catch my attention.
I sat up quickly, scooting back as the nurse smiled at me. She had never woken me up on her own. I glanced to the clock on the wall, it was 9:02. Why the hell was she waking me up so early?
"I didn't mean to startle you." She spoke, fumbling with the iv line next to me and started to change its fluid.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, eyeing the nurse suspiciously. I watched as she flicked the bag and gave a look over at the line that was going through my forearm.
"'Course not, you have another visitor." She motioned to the door. "It's just not often that they come so early."
"A visitor?" I asked, but then it clicked. It was König.
He had came, just like he said. Shit.
The nurse finished with my iv, telling me that she would be back with my breakfast once the man that had come to see me was gone. She left the room, giving a nod to the person behind the door before disappearing entirely.
I sat up straight, brushing my hair out of my eyes. Why did he have to come so early, i have intense bed head.
I fumbled with my blankets that were wrapped around me, kicking my legs out from underneath them and sitting relaxed on my bed just ad König tried to slowly step inside. It was just like yesterday, but this time he was quick to shut the door as well, leaving just an inch of it open.
"Hi." He spoke, walking fully into the room and stopping just where he had stood yesterday.
Awfully routine like.
"Hi." I replied, bringing my hands together in my lap, my eyes meeting his. He was wearing his uniform, just like yesterday.
"I'm sorry to wake you." König said, using his slightly as he spoke.
"No, no it's okay." I shook my head. "I just wasn't expecting you to come so early." I looked at the clock again, 9:05.
I'm pretty sure visiting hours start at nine.
"Yeah, um." He glanced to the window. "Sorry about that."
"It's okay." I mumbled, flashing a small smile whilst i rubbed my eyes.
Only slightly tired.
I heard a sudden squeaking against the floor, i looked up and noticed König pulling the armchair closer to my bed.
"Is it okay, if i-?" König noticed me looking, pointing a gloved finger to the chair next to him.
I nodded quickly. I brought my knees up to my chest, wrapping my arms around them and playing with the edge of my sweater. König sat down in the chair that was now seated just next to the bed. He sat with his elbows on his knees, slouching heavily. It must be hard to carry all his height.
"I'm sorry about what happened." König broke the silence.
I looked up at him, his blue eyes staring intensely into mine.
"It's horrible they did." He continued. "Sick, sick, people."
"You don't have to apologize." I shook my head.
"But i still am."
I laughed lightly, glancing from his eyes back to my sweater. There was a loose blue strand sticking out.
"Do you know who they were?" I asked, meeting his eyes yet again.
"Do you really want to know?"
I thought for a second before answering, did i want to know?
"Yes." I answered.
König took a deep inhale, moving in his seat so he sat back farther.
"Well." He started. "They were a terrorist group."
My eyebrows raised. Terrorists?
"Al-Qatala, that's their name. They're from the middle east, but they move through Europe a lot. That's how they wounded up..here. Berlin."
I waited for König to continue, but he didn't.
"So then, why me?" I asked. "Why take me and all those other people?"
König glanced into my eyes, giving me a long, silent, look before speaking.
"They dabble in human trafficking. That's how they make most of their money."
König took another moment before speaking.
"From what has happened, we think they were kidnapping locals to sell into different rings but, it got...complicated."
I stared at my sleeve again, taking in what he said. I was kidnapped for sex trafficking, just for the benefit of some terrorists. It was hard to wrap my head around. I was so close to having my entire life ruined, completely. Sex trafficking, dear god.
"Did i say too much?" König asked.
"No. No you didn't. It's just hard to really accept, y'know?"
"Yeah, i get it. I'm sorry, again."
"You don't need to be." I smiled.
König laughed, looking out the window his left. I watched as his eyes scanned over the scenery outside, it was mainly trees and far away views of the ground below us.
"I have something for you." König suddenly spoke, taking his eyes off of the outside and turning back to me.
I gave him a questioning look as he started to stumble with his pockets before a small black phone appeared in his hand.
"I figured you don't have your own anymore." He gestured, reaching over to hand it to me. His long arms stretched from the bottom of the bed up to my own.
I eyed it before taking it out of his hand, my fingers brushing against the material of his slightly gloves.
"A phone?" I asked, flipping it over and inspecting it in my palm.
König nodded quickly, watching me mess around with the device in my hand.
"Thank you." I smiled over at König, who looked away sheepishly.
"My numbers in there, if you ever need it." He looked out the window again.
I played with the phone a little more, eventually turning it on and finding the contacts button. I saw one available, König was put as its name. I couldn't help but smile.
"This is really generous, König. Thank you." I whispered the last part, sort of starstruck about him giving me this.
"You don't have to be." His eyes met mine, a twinkle of humor in them.
I laughed, looking at the phone again. I twirled it around in my fingers. He really did this for me?
