i will be there soon.

the glaring text on my phone screen had woken me up, stirring me from sleep by the bright light staring into my face: it was könig, of course.

it was nearly six in the morning, the sun had barely managed to come up yet. a hazy blue sky with peeking moonlight was all that lit up the bedroom. i couldn't help but groan and rub at my eyes as i tried to reach for my phone, my hand grasping at the bed sheets before finding it. the screen was still on, showing the text notification, and my eyes took a second to adjust to it. my eyebrows furrowed as i read what he had said, my fingers fumbling to unlock my phone and open our chat.

'this early?'

i typed back. moving bubbles popped up immediately, a quick response coming from königs end.

i thought it was best.

my face scrunched, utterly confused.

'best for what?'

i sat and waited for a response, but it didn't come as quick as the last. i clicked off my phone after a minute and waited for my brain to fully register, waking myself up as i laid in bed. i assumed he was honest by saying he'd be here soon, and id rather not make him wait any longer than needed. after a few more moments i scrambled out of the covers and navigated the dark room before finding the light and switching it on. i had my bag of things already put together by the door, having taken königs advice from the day prior and packed ahead. it wasn't a suitcase or even a large bag, i didn't exactly have many belongings at this point.

i spent the next few minutes getting myself semi ready, finding a decent outfit and doing my best to tame my hair for whenever könig would show up. once i was done, i grabbed my bag from the bedroom and instead put it on a chair in the living room. this was it, i soon realized. i wouldn't come back in here again, and there was something new to come. something i wasn't even sure of. i was putting my life in königs hands, and i had to trust it would all end up okay. it was scary but, it felt okay. its already happened twice before, i doubt things could go any worse than they have.

i trusted him.

soon though, i got a text, a late response to my own message from earlier. except it wasn't much of a response at all.

i'm outside, meet me and ill explain.

i sighed, not bothering to reply as i started grabbing my bag and making my way to the door. i took one last look over my shoulder, taking in the apartment for a final look, before exiting through the door. it's not i had many memories to miss from in there.

i shut the door slowly, doing my best to make minimum noise as the hinges closed. it was early after all. i quickly made my way down the hall and down the stairs, finding myself at the same exit me and könig had been at a few days prior. i readjusted my grip on my bag and took a peek out the windows as my shoes hit the soft carpeted floors, much less creaky than the wooden stairs. the windows didn't show much, the glass was foggy with dripping condensation. it had probably just rained.

i brushed off the paining thought of how cold it must be, and finally stepped outside, the bright exit light being the only thing i could make out as i saw outside. it was dark and misty, and i squinted around trying to spot könig, whenever he was.

"Y/N?" i jumped at the voice suddenly beside me.

"König?" i replied, turning and recognizing the large figure at my right. he stepped closer, my eyes being able to make out the outline of his usual military uniform. had he just came from work?

"Sorry- i didn't mean to scare you." he laughed with his hands up, before then reaching for my bag.

"Oh- no it's okay, i got it." i shook my head at hand. after all of this, he didn't need to carry my things.

"I know, but just let me instead." his laugh was breathy before he shook the bag off my shoulder and carried it with ease over his own.

i scoffed with a light roll of my eyes. of course he wouldn't let me.

"So why did i have to meet you out here? And..not just at the apartment." i asked.

"I didn't want to upset your neighbors anymore." könig replied. his eyes were watching me intensely. he probably could barely me in the dark as i could him.

"Oh." as soon as the words left his mouth i felt guilty. "Well i guess we don't have to worry about it anymore." i laughed self deprecatingly.

königs eyes left mine and flickered across the ground for a moment, wordlessly, before he shrugged a shoulder in the direction behind him.

"C'mon, let's go to my car." he said, and turned on his heel and started walking off.

i eyes the space he motioned to suspiciously. i had never seen his car before. but i followed him, nonetheless, taking a few hurried steps to catch up with his pace.

his car wasn't parked far, and when könig fished out some keys and unlocked it i could just barely see the outline of it in the blinking yellow light. it was black, with what i assumed was a black tint. perhaps it was too dark outside to tell, but i couldn't see into the windows. the car was big, something that could fit him inside, but nothing like a minivan. it was nice though, much nicer than something i could afford.

könig opened a back door and put my bag inside, shutting it after and turning to me. i was stood a tad awkwardly with my arms crossed beside the car, still confused on the situation, but i eyes his movements.

"Are you okay?" könig asked, taking a step towards me with his head tilted.

i pressed my lips together and nodded. "Can you tell me where we're going now?"

könig smiled behind his mask and took another step, now just in front of me. he took out his stash of keys again, a couple of them hanging off a black key ring and quickly took a silver one off. he took a long look at me before tugging at one of my arms, bring out my hand and placing the key in my palm.

"My place."
