König left soon after he gave me the phone. He explained how he had work-paperwork- to do. I understood, he was busy, and this time i wasn't as sad when he left. I had his number after all.

I deliberated when would even be a good time to call, obviously not today but i'm not sure about tomorrow either. He was busy, of course he was busy: With his line of work he had to be drowning in responsibilities. I didn't want to bother him, not with how much he's done for me. It would be selfish if i did. He didn't need to help me, but he's choosing too. I just wish i knew why.

I stuffed the phone safely in drawer of the nightstand, there was only a book inside it accompany it.

The nurse brought me breakfast after König was officially gone, smiling as she set down a glass of orange juice.

"We have to change your bandages today." She said, glancing down to where my stomach was hidden by a blanket.

Right. My injuries. Of course.

"That sounds fun." I spoke, sarcastically.

I dreaded bandage changes. It hurt like hell.

"You'll be fine hun, it's all apart of the process." She hummed.

I nodded, poking the new food in front of me with my fork. I hoped it would be over with quick.

"Agh-" I groaned, a sharp pain in my ribs shooting through me.

The nurse was taking off the bandages around my torso, the sudden loss of pressure causing an intense amount of pain to swell. There was another nurse, a med student from what i was told. The nurse was explaining to him about what happened to my ribs, and then asking him questions about how you're supposed to go about healing injures like mine. He answered each one correct, and honestly i'd be worried if he didn't.

I tried my best to not start crying during the whole ordeal, biting my lips as my body was poked and prodded. The nurse had finally put on fresh bandages, even changing the ones of my forehead and legs. She had me stand up for a little, to assess me in better view. She said i was doing fine, healing up the way i should be, but that she might put me on more pain meds.

Just what i needed. It made me question if everything was okay like she said.

When the nurse and med student left it was around lunch. I ate, did my usual routine, turning on the tv and watching whatever i could find. Time went by quickly, the daylight outside was gone rather fast. After a while i got up to use the bathroom, i was thankful i had one connected to my room.

I managed to walk over to it, half hunched over as i did. I flicked on the light, the room lighting up as i noticed the mirror on the wall next to me. I tended to avoid looking into it, all it reminded me of was how messed up i was. However, this time i decided to look into it, i had face this fear eventually. Why not now.

My hair was messy, it was frizzed and very obviously not well brushed. I didn't exactly have a lot to work with. My eyes had deep bags, all the sleep i wasn't getting evident on my face. I sighed, my gaze turning down to my lips. I touched a finger to my bottom lip, i winced slightly at the contact. It was swelled and bright red in certain parts. Fuck, was this what König had been seeing this whole time?

I tried to do my best to manage my hair, combing my fingers through it and tying it back in a long braid. Better than nothing, but perhaps i should ask the nurse about getting at least a comb.I attempted to wash my face as well, dabbing some water on the skin that didn't have a bandage or some form of bruise on it. I decided it was enough and went to leave the bathroom, turning the light back off and shutting the door closed behind me. I wrapped my sweater around me tightly, looking out at the large windows across the room. It was getting late. The sky was already turning into a hazy blue, and the sun was long gone behind the clouds.

I sighed and went to walk back to my bed, only making it a single step when the door popped open, taking me by surprise as a frantic looking König stumbled inside.
