my heart pounded and my mind raced. he was kissing me. his lips were soft, and they grazed against mine with such a tender caution. they were warm with a plush that slotted warmly against mine. i barely had time to kiss back, taking a long moment to process that this was happening before i quickly pursed my lips before it ended.

the kiss seemed to deepen as i did, lips pressing harder as i absentmindedly leaned in closer.

when he pulled away, i stared shocked at him, eyes blinking as i waited for him to say something. Anything.

"Sorry- ah- i've been waiting to do that." he admitted, flashing a grin as he sighed.

my cheeks burned. "Oh. R-Really?" i managed to stutter, my voice trembling just slightly.

he grinned again, his eyes flicking down to my lips once more. my stomach flipped.

"Yeah. Did you- like it?"

of course i liked it. i liked it surprisingly a lot. my lips still burned with the feeling of his on them, and my whole body burned with an aching want to have him even closer.

i nodded. "Yeah i.. liked it." i said slowly, almost embarrassed to admit it.

his lips pressed into a closed smile. "Good."

my cheeks flushed and i laughed lightly, letting my hand drop from his face. the mask fell back down around him, covering the fraction of it that i saw. his hand grazed my wrist, having never left as he rubbed at my skin.

"You know.." könig started. "I didn't know if i could ever do that."

"What do you mean?" my eyebrows scrunched.

könig laughed, coming to tuck a short hanging strand of my hair behind my ear. 

"I didn't know if i could kiss you." he explained. "I couldn't.. overstep."

it clicked and my face went more red. he was scared, always so nervous like i was made of glass. i'm not glass- never have been- but it was endearing how much he cared.

"Well you're not." i spoke softly.

könig hummed, giving me a long look- eyes dragging up and down me before he shifted in the bed. he pulled away from me, his hand slowly dragging along my skin before it eventually left- folding his arms as he leaned against the head board.

"Are you tired, schatz?"

i paused as my mind went a little blank. it wasn't the response i expected, maybe not even wanted, but it was late after all. i didn't need to be kissing könig of all people for all night long.

"Um- yeah, yeah i am." i nodded curtly.

he nodded at me too, reaching to turn off the lamp on the bedside table he was nearest to.

i retraced the tucked hair behind my ear as he turned away, ghosting where his fingers just were. the feeling of him was still lingering, and i couldn't shake it. we were going to sleep- together like we have before- but it felt so different and i didn't know if i could simply sleep anymore.

the room fell dark though, and könig hummed a low goodnight. i moved to lay down fully in the bed, resting my head against the pillow as i gazed up to the ceiling. i turned and looked to my left at könig after a moment, eying his large silhouette in the darkness. i wanted to lay against him, like i normally would, but the air felt charged and i was nervous. my fingers kept unconsciously tracing my lips, rubbing against the slightly chapped skin. i can't sleep with my mind racing the way it is.

i sighed quietly, pursing my lips and turning back to the ceiling.

"You can come over here." könig said suddenly.

i perked up, looking over at where he sat. his head was turned slightly in my direction, eyes barely visible but i could tell they were looking at me.

"You sure?" i said tentatively, fiddling with my fingers in my lap.

könig let out a low laugh, unfolding his arms and reaching out towards me.

"Ja." he hummed, grasping at my upper arm and lightly pulling me towards him.

i leaned into his touch, quickly sitting up to move over to him. i gently laid beside him, closer, and slotted against his side. i put my head on his chest, sighing as i felt his warmth. i put my right arm out over the rest of his chest, and hummed quietly when könig put his own over my shoulders. this felt better.
