Some time had passed since the "unfortunate disappearance" of Gloria. God was already looking for his next lady pawn. And he had a list that was a few pages long. While waiting to avoid unwanted attention, he investigated his many candidates. As much as he wanted to continue his little games in the shadows made by the light, he couldn't raise suspicion. And moving on too quickly would be suspicious. He had to bide his time and plan his next moves very carefully. God gradually narrow down his list. And soon, he had his next chess piece in mind. It hadn't taken long to screen each candidate. He had a specific set of qualifications. Beauty was merely an added bonus.

After about a year, God determined it was time to move forward. He selected Anna, another angel, to stand by him. They got along well; she accepted his hand and became his second wife. She was more likable with a ladylike charm and intelligent, professional demeanor. Anna was also more obedient, making God's plans easier. The two grew close quickly, and their relationship progressed. Sometimes, Anna was more like a secretary than a wife. But it didn't bother her enough to confront her husband about it. That and nobody went against God, to begin with. She helped him run Heaven and kept things running smoothly.

Eventually, Anna came across a worn journal. It had God's name on the cover. Being curious, she helped herself to a sneak peek. And what she discovered was something else. From the first entry, there were detailed notes about a project to create a new breed of angels. But seeing the descriptions, they were anything but. Several detailed diagrams accompanied the words. Everything was laid out. And the most recent entries were soon after her marriage a few years ago. It dawned upon Anna that she had stumbled upon something she should have never laid eyes upon. She didn't know what to do. But it was clear that this was who God truly was.

A few weeks later, God was humming while disposing of what was left of the witness. All current loose ends were finally tied up. Of course, he had known about Anna discovering his old journal. It was one of the perks of being omnipotent. Even though it had been his fault for leaving his old schematics out, he couldn't let her go around revealing his plans. His end goal was far too important. The only reason why God hadn't eliminated Anna right away was that she had been instrumental, compared to Gloria anyway. But now he was done. She had worn out her usefulness. God tosses his bloody and torn gloves into the bonfire in silence. It was a real shame. Unlike Gloria, Anna had been more of a wife than a lowly pawn to him. She could've been his Queen on Heaven's chessboard. But it was over now. With a wave of his hand, God put the bonfire out and turned tail back into his castle. The next phase of his plans wasn't going to complete itself, now was it?
