Farewell, Father

The month was drawing to an end. Michael gazed at his packed suitcases and bags in the fancy foyer. His house looked so empty now. But it was no longer home. He sighed heavily and looked over his checklist one last time. As he was finishing up, there was shouting outside his door. Then there was a series of loud and rapid knocks. A moment later, Michael found himself being dragged outside. It was an ambush. He found himself pinned down. Apparently, he had forgotten that many were fiercely loyal to his father. And they didn't appreciate him terminating his service to him permanently. Michael didn't take long to beat them down and kick them off his property. He didn't have time for this. With his attackers out of the way, he took his things and left. And then he returned for five minutes to leave a letter under his father's office door. Michael took one last look at the castle. This was it. He jumped off the cloud barrier for the last time. He was gone.
