A Helping Hand

God sat in his office. He read the letter again. This was the fifth time. He rested his chin on his hands and grinned. This was amusing. He didn't know his granddaughter was this ambitious. It seemed to run in the family. With a chuckle, he wrote a letter of his own and sent it off with an Executioner. God wondered what kind of face his son would make when he saw his daughter's rehab hotel in full swing. The thought made him laugh. On a mere whim, he quickly wrote a second letter. This time, it was for his granddaughter. Charlie would have his full support until the hotel could sustain itself. However, the real work was up to her and her team. But he wasn't worried. He knew she was capable. God couldn't wait to see her rub it in her father's face. And he wanted to be there in person when it happened.

A week passed. God received letters from Lilith and Charlie regularly. He was pleased to know they were doing well despite Lucifer's idiocy and selfishness (not to mention arrogance). He was a good ruler but lacked in the fatherhood department. It wasn't bad to think long-term. But that wasn't an excuse to bash Charlie's dreams. God had a plan. Of course, he couldn't make it super obvious that he was involved. Lucifer was no father. But he was no idiot either. He knew the signs of his father's presence. Thus, God elected to send a few spies. In return for the favor, he promised them the right to Heaven. Of course, it was their choice to admit themselves to the hotel after Charlie was open for business. The deal couldn't be sweeter.
