Priest vs. Priest

The two factions of priests didn't interact very often. It wasn't allowed. They knew the other existed, and that was it. God didn't want them to interfere with one another's work. However, even servants of Heaven weren't free from random coincidences. And today, Mesquiel and Benjamin found themselves face to face among the living. Both were off duty for the day in their Human disguises and had decided to stop by their respective favorite coffee shop. Both happened to be in the same city block. So, here they were, staring at one another. After what was only two minutes but seemed like forever, Mesquiel and Benjamin entered their cafes.

After one hour, both café doors opened. Mesquiel and Benjamin stepped out and faced one another. God's rules forbade them to interact. As they passed each other, the atmosphere was tense. Time slowed down for those five seconds. Even the mortals could feel it. Those walking their dogs had to hold them tight. Mesquiel and Benjamin continued their separate ways. But the animosity was crystal clear. Had it not been for God's rules, there was a good chance that one of them would have started something very fortunate for Humans. They were always caught in the middle when the divine had a civil war. Not that they cared.

Mesquiel returned to his humble home. He sat on his fancy white sofa with a cup of tea and ordered seafood for dinner tonight. While there was a smile on his face, he was in a less-than-pleasant mood. The mere sight of his adversary had made him cringe and flinch. His ways were despicable. Mesquiel's AI H.A.L.O. (Heal All Lost Ones) played gospel music from some of the best churches in town. It was one of the few things that soothed him when he was this angry. As much as he would've loved to put his alter in his place, God's rules forbade it. But maybe he could catch him breaking the rules and ask for permission to start a fight in return for turning him in. But that would mean trailing him, which would be considered interaction.

Likewise, Benjamin had also headed back home. He sat in his living room and surfed through about ten channels before he settled on a rerun of his favorite show from the living world. To be honest, he was impressed. Mortals didn't make a lot that he considered worthwhile. He grinned as he thought about ways to mess with his equal while following God's rules. But that fun could wait. He was expecting dinner guests in a few days and needed to prepare. Benjamin ordered his AI D.A.M.N. (Dark And Malicious Notions) to place an order from his favorite Italian restaurant. They had a fine selection, and it was one of the few places he and his friends frequented. He had to hand it to the mortal world. They knew how to make some damn good dishes. Once that was settled, Benjamin blasted a mix of rock and metal music throughout his house. All the meanwhile, a beautifully devious plot surfaced in his mind. And it was perfect.
