It had been three months since the rehab hotel was opened. God had been watching over things, literally from above. Many sinner demons (as he called the living who had been condemned to Hell) had sought Charlie's philanthropic services. Some of them were already showing signs of progress. It was a pleasant surprise. However, there was one thorn in God's side. Pockets of "those people" were springing up and resisting. And God was sick of them. Being kind enough to give the living world free will had been a mistake. He had been patient enough to give them a chance to change. But they had failed them for the last time. They never learned their place. Not that they had one to begin with. God was done being nice. It was time to cleanse the world and rid it of the plague. And this time, he was going to take care of business personally.
