The Music of Heaven

 Today, God was tuning his precious guitar. It was one of his most prized possessions kept under lock and key in the personal walk-in vault hidden in his office. Like most musicians, he had named it. It had been long since he had taken Virtue out of her case for a strum. But today was the day. The past several days, he had been busy catching up on work. So, today he was relaxing with his guitar. On the music stand before him was sheet music from the living world. God had liked some of the church music the mortals had crafted. Thus, he had made a few copies upon returning from vacation. As he studied the notes, something came to mind. It wouldn't be bad for his churches to have some musical groups. Something to add a little fun. After all, sermons took forever—maybe a choir or a small band. As God toyed with the idea, it sounded better every minute.

God helped himself to a whole apple pie to celebrate his new idea after his heavenly guitar solo. Then it was straight to work. There were many talented musicians across the world. But he had to be a little picky. Not all said musicians were affiliated with the churches. It wasn't exactly a dealbreaker. But God favored those who would work for the church of their own will. He kicked his feet up on his desk as he searched the globe. Little by little, he found his musicians. God sent instructions to the head of every church. Their current orders were to scout out musical talent. Yes, it was mostly to spread his word through music. But a little popularity wouldn't hurt. Thus, a new filler chapter in God's more excellent plans was written.

Before long, God started seeing pleasing results. A few churches had gathered musicians to join services. They usually performed at the beginning to get everyone's attention and at the end for a more upbeat sendoff after the Father's long sermons. God watched in delight. Things were going his way. As they always did.
