I found this in an old notebook XD

I decided to write it here instead of in the poem book because it is about LOTR...I guess it's a summary of the Ring of Power from the beginning of the Second Age????????????

Enjoy?

In lands where Elven lords were king

Came a beautiful stranger wielding a ring

He brought his skills of magic and lore

He was nobody anyone had seen before

He was called Giver of Gifts and Annotar,

And through his power he guided them far

Eventually Three Rings of Power were made

Rings of Power, that would never fade

But underneath his false impression

He had a twisted, sinister mission

Unbeknownst to anyone,

He was a Maiar, turned—and strong

Saron grew with all his might

Blanketing the land in eternal night

His own ring, to rule them all

Revealed what soon was to befall

The truth came at a sudden hour

No mercy for the Ring of Power

So then the elves all went to war

To fight with men of Numenor.

At the Battle of Dagorlad

The troops were led by Gil-Galad

Durin and Elendil fought side by side

The three convinced to turn the tide

And by the strength of men and elves

With dwarves, for they, they fought as well

Sauron's power was diminished

His evil reign at last was finished

Isildur cut off Sauron's hand-

It wore the ring, a plain gold band.

Just destroy it! Throw it in!

He was begged by friend and kin.

But that same hour, the thoughts began

It's mine, announced the spell cast man

I'll keep it here! Here, in my halls.

My city will be the greatest of all.

But day by day, hour by hour,

The One Ring unleashed its power

For all the work of Middle Earth

There would be no second birth.

The vengeful Sauron rose again

With strength in numbers, slaves of Men

As long as the Ring still shone bright,

Sauron the Deceiver continued to fight

His soul and darkness, fire and steel

Bound forever—fate was sealed.

Isildur died, the ring was lost,

The whole ordeal simply forgot

The history became a tale,

A myth about Isildur's fail

However, history changed

When the creature Gollum came

He found the Ring and lost his mind

The Preciousss, he cooed, the Precious is mine!

A while passed, more or less

When Bilbo Baggins had a quest

To defeat the dragon in Erebor

To take back the homeland of the dwarves

Thus they began, 15 in all

The dwarves, Bilbo, and wizard tall

They travelled over hills and fells

And forests dark and rocky dells

As Bilbo looked inside a cave,

He found the ring that Gollum "saved"

He took it home, back to the Shire

Weary, spent and old and tired

The years passed and Gandalf came

He was surprised to see Bilbo looked the same.

He saw the Ring and began to look

For clues and tales of lore in books

Bilbo, however, had a plan.

He wanted to see other lands.

He left the ring, at Gandalf's bequest

His heir, young Frodo, got that and the rest.

So as Gandalf returned and Bilbo departed.

The new War of the Ring had just been started.
