Charlies POV:
Steve and I stood suited up in Bukys disheveled apartment. I looked around sadness hitting me full force.
"He didn't deserve this kind of life...." I said as my eyes darted around to every inch of the room. Steve didn't respond. I look over to see him pulling a notebook off the fridge. I walk over to see what it is
"Heads up, Commander. German Special Forces, approaching from the south." Sam said through the comm. I suddenly heard someone enter, they tried to be sneaky but I could sense them easily. I knew who it was before I even turned.
"Bucky" i said before turning to face him. He looks at me confused but then notices Steve, I ca see something in his eyes, he remembers.
"You're Steve. I read about you in a museum." Bucky said. Lie. He remembers him.
"They've set the perimeter" Sam said to me
"Copy" I respond quickly wanting to focus on Bucky
"I know you're nervous. And you have plenty of reason to be. But you're lying." I told him. He looked at me with a smirk but suddenly turns serious.
"I wasn't in Vienna. I don't do that anymore." Bucky told us honestly
"They're entering the building." Sam spoke
"Well, the people who think you did are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking you alive." Steve spoke honestly
"That's smart. Good strategy." Bucky spoke. I looked at Steve and saw the hurt in his eyes.
"They're on the roof. I'm compromised." Sam said hurridley
"Steve, Bucky we need to Leave now" I told them rushed, we didn't have time for this right now
"This doesn't have end in a fight, Buck." Steve told him trying to convince him to come with us
"It always ends in a fight." Bucky spoke not budging
"You pulled me from the river. Why?" Steve said trying to trigger something, we both knew the real bucky is still in there
"I don't know." Bucky responds flatly
"3 seconds!" Sam tells me
"Steve, Bucky, Now!" I yell at them as I look out the window
"Yes, you do." Steve pushes ignoring me
" Breach! Breach! Breach!" Sam yells, panic runs through me as we were still in the building. I went to walk over to Steve when a grenade was sent through the window blazing past be. Bucky kicked it and I quickly threw a shield on it to control the blast. Bucky looked at me with wide eyes. Men quickly invade the apartment, Steve and I fight but only to hold them off not to kill anyone. After all, they were doing their job. I notice Bucky slam one into the wall
"Buck, stop! You're gonna kill someone. Don't make this worse!" I yelled with anger ripping him off the man
"I'm not gonna kill anyone." Bucky yells yanking me off him trying to pin me but i overpower him and Steve helps me up. Suddenly Bucky punches a hole in the floor grabbing a backpack and throwing it out the window. More cops invade and another attack ensues. I try to hold them off while keeping up a shield to protect us. As another cop tries to report our position steve destroys his radio. We quickly jump down to Bucky, just as i got down I saw him toss a cop over the railing. I quickly jump over and grab the cop not remembering to secure myself. Luckily Steve grabs onto me and pulls me up as I secure the cop.
"Come on, man." Steve says looking at Bucky with slight anger. We hold off more cops when I notice Bucky jumping off the balcony.
There was no way all of us could make it out of here without a distraction. I needed to give them time.
"Steve!" I yelled looking at Buckys poition "Go after him, ill hold them off as long as I can" I told him. He gave me a look as if I was crazy, I knew he didn't want to leave me but he needed to get Bucky
"Steve go! Ill be okay" I told him, he hesitated to leave and mouthed I love you before jumping off the balcony chasing after Bucky.
I threw my shield up to shove men out of my way making sure none were severely hurt. There were too many, I used my lightning to kill the power in the building, they wouldn't be able to see me very well but I could see them. As they panicked trying to find me, I slipped away and went after Steve and Bucky.
"Sam, location" I spoke into my comm as I ran in the direction I last sa them. Nothing came through, but I didn't need it. I followed the commotion and chaos in and underpass. I found Steve, Bucky, and some cat person fighting. I see Steve get into a car and Drive after them as bucky is on a car with the cat man a few behind. I keep running as fast as I can.
I suddenly see the cat man jump onto Steves car. Anger cuoursed through me making me run faster then I though I ever could.
"Sam, I can't shake this guy." I hear Steve say
"Right beh-"
' Sam doesn't get to finish as I hop onto the car steve was on. I trying to knock this cat man off but he was not budging. I continue to fight with him but it was getting hard due to Steves crappy driving. I quickly notice a barrier that Bucky jumps and I notice Steve getting ready to, He does and I almost loose my grip and so does cat man
"Steve! your a terrible driver" I said through grunts
"Charlie what are you doing up there!" Steve yells with concerned
"Saving your ass!" I said anger growing as the cat man swiped my face leaving blood to trickle down. In my quick moment of distraction cat man jumps onto the bike Bucky was on. He falls but grabs onto Sam. I jump onto cat man to get him off Sam
"Sorry sam" I say trying to get him off, I manage to do so by shocking him. But in the process we took bucky down with us. I slid getting road rash on my arms and head but quickly recover to pull cat man off of Bucky. He starts to attack me as well but Steve showed up and pulled him off of me. We were getting ready to fight again when we were swarmed by police and wow...Rhodey
Steve and i look at teacher other sadly. He looks over my wounds getting ready to say something but I shake my head. Now is not the time
"Stand down, now." RHodey says. I take a step in fromt of bucky and next to Steve.
"Congratulations cap, commander. Your now criminals." Rhodey told us. I knew what we were doing was considered criminal but it hurt to hear. I fought so hard for this country, I fought hard for a life with the man standing next to me. and in the end this is what I am. All i did was the right thing. Police quickly moved in forcing everyone but cat man to their knees. I couldn't look at Steve or Bucky, I put my head down not talking. I feel like I've let them down and myself down. Why does doing the right thing have to be so complex. I notice Steve try to meet my gaze, but I couldn't look at him. Bucky was forced to the ground. I quickly looked at him noticing he was already looking at me. I gave him a nod and looked back down.
