Worthy (Captain America/Steve Rogers Love Story)

For Steve

Steves POV:

I sat on the quintet lost in thought. We were headed to Wakanda and while i needed to focus and prepare, my thoughts kept drifting away. I felt someone sit down next to me and I look over to see Sam.

"how you holding up cap?" He asked, it took a while for me to respond as i tried to understand how i was feeling.

"Honestly, im not holding up. Part of me is saying dont worry because she is so strong and Tony is there. But the other part of me is dying with worry. Im not there to protect her, what if she needs me. This is Thanos, if he is as strong as they say, I dont know if those three stand a chance." I spoke honestly, letting a tear fall down my face. It hurt more than anything.

"CJ is full of surprises she's grown so much, her power has grown as well. She's our strongest Steve, she will be okay. All three of them will be" Sam said squeezing my shoulder. I gave him a nod, thankful for his encouragement.

We landed in Wakanda and shared a few notes, I then turned to Bucky glad to have him by my side during these times.

"How you been, Buck?" I asked him

"Uh, not bad, for the end of the world." He said laughing back

"Where is the rest of your team" T'Challa asked, we all looked at each other then I looked back at him

"We will explain inside" I stated and we all walked away following him into what appeared to be a lab.

Everyone stood quietly waiting for one another to speak up, everyone was upset by this but i needed to be a leader right now. I needed to stay strong for her so that she can come home to me.

"Thanos's men attacked New York in attempt to retrieve the time stone which was guarded by Dr. Stefen strange, a soccer of some sort. Charlie had been there to discuss things with Tony when Banner and Strange sought them out for help. The ship ended up taking off with strange inside and the stone. SO tony, charlie, and Peter bravely went with it. We dont know.....if the succeed or not but we have to hope they did" I said taking a pause too compose myself. "Four heroes are gone, we dont know their location or their condition...we have to do whatever we can down ere to protect the mind stone. This is everyones best chance." I said taking a shaky breath in. I let someone else finish

"We come to you in favor, we believe there is a possibility we can separate vision and the stone into two entities and then Wanda can destroy the stone" Nat finished for me, I nodded to her in thanks

Shuri looked over a hologram of the stone, we all looked over amazed at the technology

"Whoa. The structure is polymorphic." She said shocked

"Right, we had to attach each neuron non-sequentially." Banner responded

"Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work collectively?" SHuri said like it was nothing, we all looked at banner in wait for a response

"Because, we didn't think of it." He responded amazed

"I'm sure you did your best." SHuri said with a laugh causing us all to smile

"Can you do it?" Wanda asked, I felt horrible for her. I knew how she felt. The chance of loosing the one you love

"Yes, but there are more than two trillion neurons here. One misalignment could cause a cascade of circuit failures." She said giving us all hope "It will take time, brother." SHuri said to her brother

"How long?" I asked anxiously

"As long as you can give me." She responded.

"Something's entered the atmosphere." Okay sates and we all become alarmed
