"Winky?" Adeline called out through the empty kitchen. She knew the house elfs would be busy cleaning up dinner but hoped her friend would spare time for her.

"Adeline!" Winky yelled entering the room. It took three years to get Winky to call Adeline by only her first name, but it was time well spent. Adeline considered Winky to be a friend, not her slave.

"I missed you so much! How was Hogwarts over the summer?"

"Boring. Winky prefers when Adeline and others are here and Winky gets to cook!"

"But you also have to clean then." Winky confined in Adeline once that while she loves to cook, she secretly hates doing the dishes. If the other house elfs discovered that, she would be shamed for not being grateful to serve her masters. "I can't stay and talk, classes start tomorrow and I have to prepare, but I wanted to stop by and say hi."

"Winky understands, Winky hopes Adeline has good classes."

"Me too Winks, me too."

Adeline leaves the kitchen and walks across the hall to the Hufflepuff common room. She tapped on the barrels the same rhythm she's known for years and enters the house just before the prefects could approach with the new set of first years. Adeline slips into her room and starts to look through her schedule. Potions, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, Transfiguration, Charms, and her independent study of Alchemy. Her top subject has always been Potions, which is what allowed her to study Alchemy with Headmaster Dumbledore. Adeline organized her books for tomorrow's class. She then got up and walked over to the mirror.

"You are going to do great tomorrow. You are going to ace your classes. You are going to get so many points for your house that no one will be able to call you a useless Hufflepuff. On that note, you are not a useless Hufflepuff. You are going to look hot as fuck. Now go to sleep bitch." Adeline ended her affirmations and started to get ready for bed. Her roommates weren't in yet and probably wouldn't be for the next few hours. They avoid her whenever they can. It's not that she's ever done anything to them, nor have they to her since first year. But they aren't friends, and people who aren't friends don't casually hang out in the same room. So they usually take the common room so they can hang out with the boys and she gets the bedroom. Works for her.

Adeline drifts off to sleep awaiting her first day of classes.
