The morning of Christmas Eve it was time to catch the train. Adeline woke up early to ensure she packed everything she needed. Adeline had already mailed her gifts to the girls' houses but she made sure to pack her gifts for the boys and Euphemia and Fleamont. She gave her roommates each a box of cookies that she made earlier in the week. Mercury was tucked into a carrier crate.

It was finally time to board the train. Many seventh years were emotional that it was their last time leaving Hogwarts for Christmas, but Adeline was nervous for it to be her first. She met the group outside of Gryffindor to head down together.

"So are you coming over with the other girls at the end of the week?" Adeline asked Mary who surprisingly exited with the group.

"I think so yes. I mean it is our last Christmas break together." Mary responded.

"Good. It wouldn't be the same without you."

"I think Emmeline might stop by for a day too."

"Aww good. It'll be nice to see her again."

"Yeah well it depends if she's busy with the Order or not."

"Right. How have you been with that whole thing?" Adeline was hesitant to ask.

"We try not to talk about it much. It always leads to a fight. But she matters to me too much to not have her in my life."

"That makes sense. You have every right to be anxious about her."

"Thanks, it means a lot to hear that."

"Of course. Your feelings on it are valid. It's dangerous to join the Order, but it is also essential to some."

"I've been trying to wrap my head around that." Mary looked over at Adeline, "Have you decided yet?"

Adeline took a deep breath, "Yes. I- I'm gonna join."

"I knew you would." Mary said with a soft smile.

"I don't plan on being apart of the fight, but I'm a decent healer. I want to help save lives.... Are you upset?"

"No. If anything happens to Emmeline I want you to be there to heal her." Mary looked at her sadly.

"I will be."

"Thank you."

Just then Adeline felt a searing pain on her shin.

She looked down to see her robes on fire.

"PEEVES WINS AGAIN." Peeves cackled with glee while flying around Adeline's head. Adeline and Mary quickly cast a spell to put the fire out.

"I told you I was leaving this year, I thought the bet was off." Adeline complained to Peeves.

"It's Christmas Eve and Addyline is still here. Bet remains." Peeves giggled.

Adeline reached into her bag and pulled out a tin of cookies she was saving for the train ride. "Here take it. You don't get to choose the type because you cheated."

Peeves swooped down to grab the tin from Adeline, "Merry Christmas Addyline!" And he vanished in the air.

"Addy why did he just throw a candle at you."

"It's a long story." Adeline huffed as they hurried to catch the train.

Mary and Adeline found the compartment with the rest of their friends, who were all relieved that Mary sat with them once again. Adeline took a seat next to Remus who spotted her burnt robes.
