"Have you thought about what you want to do after school?" Dumbledore asked Adeline at the end of her Alchemy lessons.

"Probably a Potioneer. Maybe a healer. Slughorn mentioned retiring soon so it could also be fun to take over for him." Adeline responded thoughtfully. She didn't have her life all planned out yet.

"All wonderful choices for you." Dumbledore took a second, "You are aware it may be getting difficult for muggleborns soon?"

Adeline looked down. "Uh yeah. I've seen things in the papers." There's recently been an uptick in muggleborn wizards being reported missing.

"If things go South it may be good to have a back up plan in the muggle world. Professor Sprout is to talk to you about those alternative routes." Dumbledore tilted his head, "Unless, of course, you plan on joining the war effort?"

"Oh! I haven't put much thought into it" Adeline had put a lot of thought into it. She knew Effie and Monty were apart of some sort of organization. And that James and Sirius would be joining too. "I'm not much of a fighter sir. I wouldn't be very useful."

"Not everyone is needed on the front lines Miss Wilson. We need healers and potioneers just as much."

Adeline nodded, deep in thought.

"You don't have to decide now Miss Wilson. It's only the first day of classes. You have all year to make up your mind. No matter what you choose I am sure it will be right for you." Dumbledore said with a twinkle in his eye.

"Off you go then. I'll see you next week."

"Yes sir." Adeline said standing up and heading out of his office.

She decided to stop by the kitchens to grab a snack and to say hello to Winky. She was going to make more of an effort to be present friend.

"Winks?" Adeline said while entering the room, she looked around and saw the Marauders sitting at a table. "Hey guys!"

"Adeline! Winky is so happy to see Adeline. Does Adeline need anything?" Winky said coming into the room at the sound of her voice.

"Sure, how about a muffin?"

"Winky will get that for you right away."

"Thanks Winks, I'll tell you about my classes then."

Winky nodded ferociously, "Winky loves to hear about Adeline's day." Winky ran to back to get Adeline a muffin (well a bowl of muffins, house elfs always went above and beyond."

"Did that house elf call you Adeline?" Sirius asked in shock.

"Yeah! It took a while but we finally got there." Adeline said with pride.

"That must've taken years." Sirius laughed.

"Yeah we've been working on it since like first year." Adeline explained.

"How'd you have the time- oh that's right. You didn't have any real friends." Sirius teased.

"Winky was a real friend." Adeline retorted while narrowing her eyes slightly. She was used to joking back and forth with Sirius but she didn't like his tone this time.

"You considered a house elf your real friend? Wow Wilson you really were antisocial." Sirius smirked.

"Sirius" James said with a warning tone.

"Are you fucking kidding me right now Black?" Adeline asked getting angrier. Peter looked over at Remus worried, who didn't take his eyes off of Adeline.
