"Hello everyone. To our established members, I am glad to see you once again. And to our newest recruits, welcome." Dumbledore stood in front of a crowd of people in the Potter Manor.
Effie and Monty had offered to host the Order meeting, so that the children- now technically adults- would feel more comfortable.
"We have a lot to discuss today so let's get started."
Adeline didn't pay attention to Dumbledore much. Nothing he said would really pertain to her. All she had to do was brew potions, and maybe do the occasional healing. No big missions like her friends were facing. So instead she examined the other members. Some she recognized, like Emmeline and the Prewett brothers, others she inferred, such as Molly Prewett and a man she assumed to be her husband or boyfriend. There was a man who appeared to be missing a leg as well, Love that for us Adeline thought to herself. Her mind drifted to a conversation that would occur after the meeting. Her, Marlene, and Dorcas had decided she would come move in this weekend. Effie and Monty knew that she would be eventually, but she could tell they didn't want her to. Especially not yet.
"Any questions?"
Adeline was snapped out of her own head at the sound of Dumbledore's voice. She looked around and saw everyone shaking their heads no. Of course they wouldn't question him.
"I will now talk to each of our mission groups separately to give more individual details. So please stick around, Mrs. Potter has provided refreshments as you wait for your turn. Miss Evans, Mr. Potter, and Mr. Black, I want to talk with you first."
Adeline sat with Remus as the members had their individual meetings. She made it a point to figure out people's names as they went up. The man with the missing leg was Alastor Moody. Molly's husband was Arthur Weasley. Frank Longbottom and Alice Fortescue she vaguely recognized from school but had never spoken to them, then there was a Benjy, Elphias, Dedalus, Edgar and an Arabella.
At last Remus was called up to have his private meeting with Dumbledore, leaving Adeline alone to go find her other friends. She approached Lily who seemed to be on edge. "Are you okay?" Adeline asked bluntly.
Lily's eyes went wide, "Yeah I'm fine why wouldn't I be."
Adeline pointed at the glass in her hand, "I noticed you gripping your drink so tightly I feel it might shatter."
"Oh. Yeah." Lily loosened her grip.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing! I'm fine. Just a little nervous. First meeting jitters!" Lily wouldn't meet Adeline's eye.
She's definitely lying. Adeline was about to question her when Dumbledore interrupted, "Alright everyone. That concludes our meeting. Heed your missions and be safe. You are dismissed."
"Did he ever call you up?" Lily asked trying to change the spotlight off of her.
"No. But I suppose I won't be going out on missions like the rest of you lot. My instructions could very well be a letter."
Right on cue, Remus walked up and handed Adeline a piece of paper, "Those are all the potions Dumbledore needs you to brew."
Adeline opened up the paper, "That is a lot of potions. Did he say when to have them done by?"
"There should be dates listed next to each one. Plus some that need to be on reserve and constantly stocked."
Adeline scanned the list again and saw all the dates. It was a pretty tight schedule.
James walked up to the trio and wrapped his arm around Lily's shoulder, "Are you ready love?"
"Of course." Lily smiled the same nervous smile that she had prior, but had relaxed a little.
