Well I have and regret to tell you that this story is gradually coming to end. Don’t get mad at me please, we all know anything that has a beginning must definitely have an end. Thank you for being with me from the start of the story.
CHAPTER 29
“Will you marry me?” Ed said kneeling on a knee with a bright gold and diamond ring. “Oh Ed! Yes... yes I will marry you.” I screamed and pulled him up to a hungry kiss. We got onto the bed and started removing our cloths and then –
“Fiona! Wake up. It’s morning already.” Ed said, shaking me gently. I yawned as I got up then stretched. It was 7am and the convocation was at 10am. I had been dreaming about his proposal and it was no wonder because it was the last thing I thought of before sleeping. It felt so real. “Hey love, wow its today.” I said happily. “Yeah its today.” He replied and carried me into the bathroom. “Clean up. Everyone’s getting dressed and they’d soon come for you.” He said and rushed downstairs to get the door. Melissa, Brenda and Belinda waited for me in the room while Ed had gone to meet my parents.
“Congratulations Fiona!” they shouted as I got out of the bathroom. I dropped my towel, startled and we laughed at it. I hugged them and they handed me their presents but I wasn’t to open them until I was dressed. I got into the glittering silver gown mum brought for me and wore the black shoes I bought with it. I refused to remove Ed’s locket and wore silver jewelleries with it. The gown was a halter so I didn’t need a neck chain. I grabbed the presents and opened them one after the other. Brenda got me a cake mixer, knowing how much I love cakes. “Oh my! My very own cake mixer? You are too sweet Brenda, thank you very much.” I said. Belinda got me a set of beautiful Caribbean jewelleries and Melissa got me a sparkling white suit made by Dior. “You guys are just too awesome, really.” I said as I checked the suit in the mirror. “I love it.” I said again and hugged and thanked them again and again. The door burst open and Florence rushed in. “Having the fun without me?” she said.
“No way.” I said and hugged my best friend. It was nice seeing her again. “Here is mine.” She said handing me her gift. “Hhmmn... I wonder what’s in here.” I opened it to reveal about a dozen set of lingeries. “Florence!” I shouted and we laughed. She always had the weirdest gifts for me but I’ve always loved that side of her. “Thank you, they’re beautiful and seductive. No wonder you were asking if I was still the same size.” She nodded and they helped me dress up.
We got out of the house with my convocation gown in my hands and the cap on my head. It was 9am already and we joined the rest of the family for breakfast which had been ordered. “Good morning!” I shouted as I entered my house. Everyone clapped and I bowed, laughing. “Congratulations to you!” they shouted back and I rushed into dad’s open arm. I hugged mum too and Michael and Max and his mum, Brianna and Brian and Evans and I kissed Ed. We settled down to a hearty breakfast and the limos dad ordered for, arrived. There were three of them, one for us age groups, one for dad and his friends and the last for mum and her friends and Brianna. We went to the hotel to pick up their guests and then drove to the campus. We got to there at exactly 10am.
We alighted from the limos and everyone present stared at us. The press rushed at dad and mum and Ed to interview them. “Sir, what are you doing here today?” one of the reporters asked. “I’m here to grace my daughter’s convocation ceremony with my family and friends.” Dad replied. He was asked series of questions and mum and Ed were not left out. “Miss Fiona, how do you feel today, right now?” I was asked. “I’m so happy and it seems I’m dreaming.” I said jovially. I joined the graduants in the room where we’d file out from. We were called in and we lined up alphabetically. My guests were settled in the hall already and Ed waved at me from the front. I sat down at the ‘D’ row and kept glancing at Ed.
