She was jolted awake by the loud rumble from her stomach, it was so intense she couldn't ignore it even if she tried.

Why was it dark outside when she only closed her eyes for two minutes?

When she arrived her plan was to nap for an hour and then help ausi Daphne prepare for tomorrow's lunch but she slipped into a death-like slumber, which was no match for her alarm and an hour turned into five. She knew fatigue was a pregnancy symptom but she didn't know it could get as bad as it did today.

Now that she was fully aware of her surroundings hunger unfurled, making itself known but sleep still had her head heavy and she wanted to lay there for a while and forget about food. Sweat gathered underneath her engorged breasts and stomach, reminding her that her bedroom was the temperature of Satan's flaming pit.

She turned to the bedside table and found her phone at 15% and with a string of missed calls and messages from Kamo, which didn't make much sense and Anesu, asking if she arrived safely. She typed a quick response and searched for something comfortable in her suitcase and settled for a short strapless dress. There was no sign of her charger and that's what the nagging feeling was about, she forgot it. Her saving grace was knowing that ausi Daphne used the same brand.

Her search in the main bedroom came to an abrupt end when she found a penis sleeve in one of the drawers. Kgomotso knew her father's diabetes affected his functionality and to struggle with the one thing that validated him as a man made him feel inadequate. It was no secret that Jerry and Daphne still led an active sex life because they didn't believe kissing was only reserved for the bedroom and sometimes behaved like teenagers who couldn't keep their hands off each other. They had always expressed their affection openly since the beginning of their relationship and that made Kgomotso more comfortable talking to ausi Daphne when she had her first period after Caroline sternly told her to stay away from boys. That was her first sex talk and Caroline wasn't pleased when she found out and accused Daphne of teaching her to be promiscuous.

She quickly closed the drawer, hoping to erase the memory of that penis sleeve from her mind and rushed out of the bedroom, bumping into ausi Daphne in the passage.

"What's wrong, Manana? You look shaken up," she asked.

Kgomotso struggled to maintain eye contact, feeling like she was caught snooping. "Nothing, I was just looking for a charger."

"Oh, I was using it in the kitchen."

"Okay."

She was happy to see Anesu calling, his perfect timing saved her from that awkward moment. Food would have to wait.

"I have to take this," she said, heading back in the direction of her bedroom.

"Baby? Are you okay?"

She laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Maybe closing her eyes would help her forget what she saw.

"Yeah, I'm good."

He sighed, relieved to hear that. "I got worried when I couldn't get a hold of you."

"Sorry I didn't get back to you, I was too tired when I arrived and what was supposed to be a short nap became way longer. I swear this preg..."

Shit! Her big mouth almost got her in trouble.

"What was that?" he asked.

"Uhm, it's nothing. Yes, it's nothing, don't worry about it."

"You know saying that only makes me do the opposite, right?"

Kgomotso chuckled, realizing that he was right. "It's really nothing, Anesu."
