Chapter 43

"I got one final interview and then they will let me know if I got the job," I told Karen.

We were currently out at a breakfast place catching up on life. I had gotten through a ton of interviews and such at A&M Records and because of KC's help, they are going to most likely hire me. The position is in the studio area of filing master tapes, helping with recording sessions, etc.  The weather was super overcast and it was cooler than normal for June. No sun shine.

"I will literally get to see you when we go to work," Karen replied happily. 

"It is only for 2 days a week if and when I get hired. Then they will gradually move me up on my days," I explained to KC.

"But still, you will be a part of the A&M family," Karen replied.

"True and I would have gotten hired at RSO but I was really hesitant because of the fact of Andy's label and ya know no telling what could have gone wrong there," I told Karen as I sipped my coffee.

"Didn't you tell me that you also had something with Curb Records?" Karen asked.

"I thought I had applied for the LA office but apparently they were looking for someone to move to Tennessee and I could not make that happen in the time frame they gave me," I replied to her.

"That would have been so cool though," Karen replied as she sipped her coffee.

"I wasn't going to leave Andy or have him move to Tennessee though he would have been closer to his brothers," I replied to her.

"Good point," Karen replied smiling.

I was so thrilled I had finally landed a job and it was something I had studied for.

"So when do you start do you know?" Karen asked me.

"Well, all I know is I have one final interview that determines it all so I hope before July," I told her.

"I am so proud of you! We will have to celebrate," Karen replied as she finished her coffee.

"And Levi and Johnny were pretty surprised too,"  I told her.

"Every time I go to the record store, they surely talk highly of you and miss you a lot," Karen commented.

"I know and it's hard because they are like my brothers ya know? It's hard for the change that happened but we are making it work," I replied as I finished my coffee.

"But hey you have moved up in the world," Karen replied proudly.

"I have and I am so excited to finally start my new chapter," I told her.

I glanced down at my watch and it was well after 12. We had been here for over 2 hours.

"What time did you say you needed to be at the hairdresser?" I asked Karen.

"12:35," Karen replied.

"I hate to cut this nice visit but KC it's already after 12," I replied to her.

"Oh shoot I better get going," Karen replied standing up and grabbing her wallet.

She left a tip out and grabbed her bill.

"KC the hairdresser is like 2 blocks away you'll make it in time," I told her as I followed her actions.

We went and paid for our meals and headed out of the restaurant. 

"See you later KC," I told her as she went for a hug.

"See ya later! Let me know how the interview goes. I'll keep putting bugs in Jerry and Herb's ears," Karen said as she headed for her car.
