"Spring cleaning? Why darling?" Andy groaned as we started in the kitchen.
We were going to start donations and such to clear room for new ones.
"We do this every year and you complain at first. Then, halfway through you realize we have more room for stuff," I commented as I got the step stool to start going through one of the cabinets.
One thing that was always funny to me was Andy wasn't much taller than I was. So, even though he wanted to be the "man" and act like he was saving me if I needed something in a cabinet, we always had a step stool around.
I decided to start in the cupboard with snacks and canned goods. If they were still in date, we would donate them.
Andy gathered some boxes and waited for me to hand him stuff.
"So are we donating all the food?" Andy asked.
"Well, hopefully, most of it. I mean these soups and such we bought within the last few months but I know we ain't going to eat them," I said gesturing to the can of soup.
"And what else are we cleaning?" Andy inquired as I handed him canned goods.
"I would like to reorganize under the sink. At least straighten up the cleaning supplies and such," I remarked.
"Oh that should be easy but I'm concerned you are going to make us purge our closets," Andy replied.
"We will eventually. I mean I don't think I've boughten that many clothes in the last year or so," I told him.
"Darling your addiction is to music more so. And there is no way you are donating any of that," Andy replied chuckling.
"Good point," I remarked as I straightened up the cabinet.
"Are you done with that one?" Andy asked as the box looked to be full.
"Yes," I remarked as I climbed off the stepstool.
"Now where are you off to?" Andy asked with a chuckle.
"Just down here to organize the cleaning supplies," I replied as I pushed the stepstool with my foot in front of the sink area.
I then sat down and begin going through stuff.
"Half empty, empty," I said as I tossed stuff into the garbage can Andy had brought over to me.
"Why do we keep these things?" Andy asked.
"I honestly don't know it just seems lazy to me," I replied as I nearly spilled bleach on myself from a bottle whose cap was not on tightly.
Andy laughed.
"Yeah, I agree darling. We aren't the cleanest people behind closed doors," Andy commented.
"Hey! Yes we are it is just I like everything brand new and full and well," I gestured to the cabinet.
"I see darling," Andy replied.
"Don't you start," I commented as I rolled my eyes.
"I promise I won't," Andy mumbled.
"Uh-huh," I replied.
And so, for the next 30 minutes, we finished the kitchen.
"I think we need a break," Andy told me as we pulled the garbage bag out of the can.
"Let's go sit outside to take a breather," I suggested.
Andy dragged the trash bag out to the can in the yard while I sat down on the patio. Biscuit was chilling in the shade. The California sun was warmer than usual today.
