At work today, I had gotten a ton of new 45s that had migrated into the shop. Most of them were ABBA releases from the last 8 years. I was surprised to find a copy of "Ring Ring" in the mix. As soon as I got home, I whipped out the record player and began spinning my new finds.
"Oh ring ring," the record player sang.
A lot of people had mixed opinions on ABBA's first album "Ring Ring." The second single the same as the album title was one of my absolute favorite songs by them.
It was only me and my daughter at home at the moment. Biscuit was content in her dog bed across from me.
I was completely zoned out. Music does that to me. Andy was out and about for work. I had already put dinner in the oven when I got home at 6 so we'd be eating a later dinner since this time, Andy was late.
And so, the 45's played for about an hour. Each of them was in perfect condition and the collector in me was so happy.
As I sat on the couch, two arms snake around my neck. But, one hand had a bouquet of flowers.
I leaned back to find my husband smiling down at me.
"Love," I said shocked.
"Well hello to you darling,' Andy replied chuckling.
I turned around to face him and grabbed the flowers. It was a mixed bouquet of red roses, daisies, and daffodils.
"You are the most romantic man aren't you?" I managed to finally speak.
Andy grinned at me.
"Why yes darling I am," Andy said leaning down to kiss my forehead.
"Is that why you were late today?" I asked him as I stood up to embrace him.
"Perhaps darling but remember, secrets are meant to be kept for surprises," Andy whispered.
I sighed and smiled at him.
"You are the best," I replied as I leaned in to kiss him.
"Did I mention there is a flower for every month we've known each other?" Andy asked as he pulled away to look at me.
I glanced down at the bouquet and finally register that there is at least 50 flowers in the bouquet. He kept count of how many months we knew each other. We'd been together officially going on 4 years and a year married. That was at least 48 months but I knew he threw in an extra few because of the fact we were friends first.
"That means there are at least 40-something flowers here," I said as I walked to the kitchen to find a big enough vase.
"55 to be exact," Andy replied as he trailed behind me.
"I love you to the moon and back," I told Andy.
He smiled and paused before replying.
"And I love you to Pluto and back," Andy replied.
I chuckled.
"All the way to the end of the galaxy?" I asked him as I finally found a vase.
"Yes and to the next galaxy and beyond," Andy replied as he came over to embrace me from behind.
"You are the craziest and most loving boy alive aren't you?" I asked as I begin to arrange the flowers in the vase.
"Yes darling," Andy replied kissing my temple.
He's been extra affectionate and I couldn't comprehend why. Not that I was complaining though.
And so for the next 15 minutes, I arranged the flowers. Andy sat down at the kitchen table and watched in admiration.
"Ta-da," I said as I grabbed the vase.
Andy smiled.
"They look beautiful, darling," Andy commented.
I went ahead and went and put them on the coffee table in the living room.
Biscuit was still in her bed asleep.
"She's just as tired as you I can see," Andy commented as he stared at our daughter.
"We all know I'm a sleepy girl so it's easy to follow my lead," I said chuckling as I sat down on the couch.
Andy laughed.
"Just one more week and things will be back to normal," Andy replied lovingly as he sat next to me.
"Yes and once the store has its grand re-opening, then we will be back to normal permanently," I replied yawning.
"Don't do that. It's contagious," Andy said stifling a yawn.
I giggled.
"Oopsies?" I asked him.
"Yes oopsies darling," Andy laughed.
I leaned into him a bit more and closed my eyes temporarily as we waited on dinner in the oven.
"Are you going to sleep?" Andy asked curiously.
"No I'm just resting my eyes," I told him.
"That's a dangerous game to play darling," Andy replied chuckling.
"It is?" I asked him.
"Yes because every time you've done that this week, you fall asleep and then don't sleep well the rest of the night," Andy told me.
"Oh," I said opening my eyes.
"We can have an early evening darling since dinner is almost done. We can get in bed by 9 at the latest so you can rest," Andy replied.
I sighed.
"Just one more week," I reminded myself.
"One more week," Andy replied as he kissed my forehead.
Twas going to be a sleepy night.
