With summer quickly approaching, I decided to take up a dance class. I was not a professional yet but I was practicing at home when I had the chance.
It was a more free for all class and it was songs and routines the instructor had been teaching. The class this week was focusing on 70s disco so I found one of my KTEL albums that had a mix.
"Take a chance on me," I sang along to the ABBA song.
The dance the teacher had come up with was super simple and honestly silly at times. The number of hand gestures we had to do in a single line was crazy.
"As long as were together," the voices of Agnetha and Frida filled the room.
Andy was out of the house thank goodness. If he saw me dancing like this, he'd probably think I blew a fuse.
Biscuit was watching the whole thing. I felt like she was rolling her eyes.
The part I thought was fun was when the lyrics say "if you change your mind," you point to your head.
I was glad to have found a new hobby that involved music somehow.
I finished rehearsing or practicing and headed to turn the record off.
"Nice moves darling," I heard from a distance.
I slowly turned around and saw Andy with a giant grin on his face.
"Uh,"I commented with a blush.
"Why didn't you tell me you were in a dance class? I just saw the papers on the kitchen table," Andy commented.
"I-I don't know I just wanted to pick up a hobby," I told him as I took the record off the player.
"It's cute darling. How long have you been in the class?" Andy asked me.
"About 4 weeks. This week we are focusing on disco," I told him.
"Disco? That's why I heard my brothers and I when I came in," Andy commented.
"Yeah, but we were focusing on doing a routine to ABBA's "Take a Chance On Me," so I wanted to practice," I told him.
"You look really good doing it darling," Andy remarked.
"Thanks," I chuckled as I went and put the vinyl away.
"So do they do different parts of the class each week or?" Andy asked curiously.
"It's two-week classes technically. So a theme or particular dance style is studied for two weeks. So the first two weeks it was easy tango for beginners," I explained as I went to get water.
"Oooh how fun darling. Do they have couples dances?" Andy asked as he followed me into the kitchen.
"I don't know honestly but I can ask in class tomorrow," I told him.
"What days do you go?" Andy asked.
"Tuesdays and Thursdays," I told Andy.
"So that's where you've been coming home from in the evenings," Andy realized.
"Yes I just didn't know how to tell you," I told him.
"You shouldn't have been embarrassed darling to tell me. I think it's cute," Andy remarked.
"I'm glad you think so love," I told him as I got ice for my cup.
"So how often do you practice?" Andy asked as I filled my glass with water.
"2 to 3 times a week," I told him as we sat down at the table.
"Oh cool darling," Andy remarked as he grabbed a drink.
"Yeah so its been a new hobby," I replied with a smile.
"I'm proud of you darling," Andy told me.
Here was to a long conversation about dancing.
