Chapter 129

"You want me to be a part of the company like your co-partner?" I asked John.

I was currently at work and he had called me into his office.  I was afraid I was about to be fired.

"Yes, we think we need someone like you working with us here instead of filing the tapes and recording sessions. You got a good brain and I don't want you to waste it," John told me.

"I, well," I remarked lost for words.

"The best part is you get a salary instead of hourly. You only have to come in a few times a week for us to work on paperwork or work with clients that we have on the label," John told me.

I was contemplating this offer in my head. This would be my big break. Everything I studied at school and got my degree in is why I am here.

"John, I graciously accept your offer," I told him.

John smiled.

"Congratulations and welcome into a brand new world of possibilities with discovering talent," John told me as he shook my hand.

"Thank you, John. I promise I will do my absolute best," I told him proudly. 

"So we need to show you your office," John told me.

"Office?" I asked him.

"Yes well now you get to be right next door to my office and Mike's office," John explained as we walked out of his and showed me the office that looked like it had been recently renovated for me.

"I've never had my own office before," I remarked stunned.

"You get your own phone extension. You also get a secretary too," John told me.

My brain was overwhelmed. I really did get my big break.

"Wow this is incredible," I told him.

"So you are going to be a music partner. Basically listening to demos that come into the company and such," John told me.

"That's exciting!" I remarked as I looked at my desk.

They already had a nameplate with my name on it.

I smiled to myself. I couldn't wait to tell Andy the news when I got home.

"So starting tomorrow, you report here on your own time unless I state otherwise," John replied happily.

"This is so great John. Thank you so much for this incredible opportunity," I told him.

"As of right now, we have no demo tapes to review but I will keep you updated as we move along in this transition with you," John told me.

"Awesome this is great," I told him.

"I will let you explore before you head home," John told me as he left the room.

I was smiling from ear to ear. I decided to test out the phone and call Andy.

After a few rings, he picked up.

"Hello?" Andy answered the phone.

"Hi love it's me," I told him.

"Is something wrong?" Andy asked.

"I'm calling you from my new office phone," I told him proudly.

"Office phone?" Andy asked confused.

"I was promoted to partner of the music company," I told him excitedly.

"Partner? Darling wait what?" Andy asked shocked.

"Yes, I'm now a co-partner in the company with the label. John promoted me today," I told him.

"Darling I'm so proud of you we got to celebrate when you get home," Andy commented ecstatic. 

"Well I'll be headed home soon so I'll talk to you later," I told him.

"Bye, darling. I love you. Be safe," Andy told me.

"Bye," I remarked as I hung up the phone.

John came back in shortly.

"So how are you liking the office?" he asked.

"I love it. I'm lost for words," I told him as I looked around the room proudly.

"I'm glad you are happy," John told me with a smile.

I glanced at the clock. It was a little after 5.

"Was there anything else I needed to do John before I leave?" I asked him.

He shook his head.

"Go home and enjoy your evening," John told me.

"Thank you, John," I told him.

He handed me the office key before I left.

"Take care and see you tomorrow," John told me as he disappeared into the hall. 

I turned the light off and locked my office.

I smiled contently as I headed home to my husband.

I got home rather quickly.

I entered the house and Andy was standing there all smiles.

"Come here," Andy spoke as he picked me up in a hug.

"I'm so proud of you darling," Andy whispered as he put me down gently as he continued his hug.

"Thank you love," I told him as he gave me a kiss.

"I knew you would make it darling. Even after all the things we've gone through. You really made it after all," Andy told me proudly.

"I was shocked after John called me into the office today. I was really worried I was about to get fired," I commented jokingly.

"Darling no oh my god why would they fire you?" Andy asked as he looked at me with so much pride in his eyes.

"I'm an overthinker hello," I told him chuckling.

"Well I got a bottle of champagne chilled for us to celebrate with," Andy told me as I separated from his embrace.

"Ooooh ok," I told him happily.

"Go get comfy so we can enjoy dinner and celebrate your accomplishment," Andy told me.

I smiled at him.

"Wait," Andy told me as he stopped me in my tracks.

"What?" I asked him.

"One more kiss," Andy told me as he stole a kiss from me.

I chuckled.

"Now go," Andy told me.

I smiled at the new chapter beginning in front of my eyes.
