A late summer heat wave had taken over California. The worst part was our AC decided to crap out and no one could come to fix it for several days. Andy wasn't that great with appliances like that. In order to keep the house cool, we bought big box fans to run all day.
"The temperature is supposed to get to 97 today," I commented as I pulled my hair into a pony.
I had just gotten out of the shower and was preparing to do some housework.
"Just 3 more days of this crap," Andy commented as he went and stood in front of the box fan.
We had 4 throughout the house. One in our room, one in the living room which blew into the kitchen, one at the top of the stairs, and one in the downstairs hall. In the rest of the rooms of the house, we had ceiling fans running on high as well.
"Of all times for us to get a late summer heat wave and the AC was just like nope not today," I commented as I tied a bandana around my head.
"The good thing is the first few days you were at work now you are stuck with me," Andy joked.
"Not that I'm complaining," I replied chuckling.
"It's a damn good thing we got the pool put in last month," Andy analyzed.
"Yeah that is true love I mean at least we can go swimming every day," I told him as I went downstairs.
I had to clean the house today. With the heat settling back in, I wanted to get it done ASAP this morning.
"You know Florida heat is one thing but this, this is a dry heat," Andy commented as he joined me in the living room.
I had already grabbed the vacuum and furniture polish.
"That is true I mean even if it's hot and humid chances are you will get a storm in Florida," I told Andy who was clearing the coffee table off.
"And that ain't gonna happen here for a while," Andy remarked.
"Well normally we go from a super hot weather pattern to nonstop rain so be careful what you wish for," I told him as I sprayed the polish on the table.
Andy chuckled.
"Darling, I know you don't like rain cause of the humidity but I will take all the rain we can get," Andy replied.
"I see. Well don't get mad when I start bitching about the humidity," I told him as I wiped the table clean.
"Every time you cuss, I laugh. You always act so proper then bam a bad word or two comes out in a decent sentence," Andy joked.
I rolled my eyes.
"Shush," I told him as he began putting the stuff back on the coffee table.
"What? I think it's funny," Andy replied nonchalantly.
"Uh huh anywho I'm going to vacuum so please go turn off two of the box fans so we don't cause a power surge," I told my husband.
"You got it, darling," Andy told me as he went to turn off two of the fans.
"God it is already getting stuffy in here," I replied patting my forehead.
Andy came back quickly to give me the ok to vacuum.
It was before 10 and it was already hot. I was glad that I would do housework quickly and that I could cool off in front of one of the box fans.
After I finished up the housework, Andy joined me in standing by the box fans. I had a bag of ice with me.
"D-do you have a bag of ice?" Andy asked laughing.
"Yes and?" I questioned.
"Why didn't I think of that sooner?" Andy remarked as he disappeared to the kitchen.
I chuckled at his reaction.
It worked decently to stay cool temporarily for a while.
I did this only because I didn't want to get into the pool right away.
"Ok I see why you did this," Andy replied contently.
"See? I'm always right," I joked.
"You are darling. God why didn't I think of doing this yesterday or days before," Andy analyzed as he sat beside me.
"Because it took me to make it make sense," I joked as I winked at him.
Andy rolled his eyes.
"You are too much darling but I love you," Andy told me.
"You are cheesy but I love you more," I told him.
Talk about a heatwave.
