Whirl Cup Competition: Sudden-Death Opening Matches

Having competed their journey to Red Rock Isle, the gang is gazing at an ancient colosseum raising from the sea. The sight of the Whirl Cup Competition, what is going on in the mind of Cora, Ash and Misty as they plan their battle strategies.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we now present the opening ceremony!" A male announcer announced.

The audience went wild.

The trainers that were participating in the competition were on boats in the colosseum. Alain, Mairin, Brock and the Pokémon were sitting in the colosseum with hundreds of other people.

"We welcome the many trainers who've survive the preliminaries battles and strive to become Water Pokémon Alpha Omega. Since ancient times the Whirl Islands has been home to many different Water Pokémon. The ritual associated with this great tradition is keep vital and alive to this day and our Maya, the Sea Priestess."

"A Sea Priestess. Oh wow." Cora said.

"She's beautiful." Misty commented.

"We will now bear from Maya who will give us her greeting."

"Welcome, welcome to our friends, old and new as we celebrate, the battle for the Whirl Cup. We are most pleased to be able to share with you our love and appreciation of all Water Pokémon." Maya greeted, with her speech, "And at the same time we are so very happy to include each and every one of you as 'True Heroes of the Sea' and may everyone here receive the ability to communicate with our Water Pokémon brothers and sister with this magnificent Sea Spirit." She raised her golden scepter. "And so, with our united purpose I shall now invoke the Sea Spirit Union."

Maya held her golden scepter towards the sun and then the orb glowed blue and released a blue magical light, surrounding the area.

"Isn't it amazing Cora, she just gathered the energy from all Water Pokémon." Misty said.

"Yeah, it sure is." Cora smiled.

"And now let's the Whirl Cup begin!" Maya declared.

"The honored Water Pokémon Alpha Omega will also receive a prize, the Mystic Water Pendant."

The screen showed the Mystic Water Pendant that is in a small box.

The audience cheered.

There have been four battles before Cora's match which she was excited about.

"Congratulations to winner from battle five! Now ladies and gentlemen let's move on to battle number six!" The screen showed an image of Elena and her opponent. "Please, let's give a warm welcome to Cora and Christopher as they make their entrance."

Cora and Christopher walked into the colosseum.

"You may each choose one Pokémon." The referee told them, "The winner will be decided when its opponent is unable to continue the fight."

"The trainers must now decide which Pokémon is best suited for battle."

"I choose you, Kaori." Cora sent out the bubble jet Pokémon.

"Vaporeon." Kaori the Vaporeon appeared, on the platform, ready.

"Cora has chosen her Vaporeon."

"Check this out." Christopher held up a fishing rod.

"Interesting. It's not a hook at the end of his fishing rod, it's a Lure Ball instead."
