He saw someone who has been hurt and broken.
Left with scars, bruises, and marks from the pain in my soul
It made him cry because of his inability to change the past.
He whispered 'I'm sorry I wasn't around sooner, but I'm here now,'
And he promised to never break his promises.. and he promised to never leave.
He told me that things will get better.
And where I see all the things I hate about my body, and the way I think;
He saw beauty and a way of thinking that can't be changed.
So you wanna know what he saw when he looked at me?
He saw a beautiful soul.. a woman who's been through so much,
A playful soul of a child that didn't get the childhood she deserved,
And that I can have those things; even being all grown up.
I thought he saw me for who I really am,
So all of the things I were simply just a bonus to him.
He loved the girl he met that day, and the girl he'd continue to see til he ended it.
He's been hurt too... his trust was abused too,
So he knows that trust is hard, but he said he broke down his walls for me.
He walked out calmly; ready to let me in, and let me be able to break.
We were both scared for one reason or another,
We promised to never leave one another.
Again he's sorry he didn't say it enough, but he loved me; And he said he'd always would..
The way I am now, is exactly how he said he'd accept me.. and me alone.
Even with my never-ending self-doubts,
He said he'd provide just as much reassurance, so I'll always know that
He said he'd be there whenever I need; either one text away, or by my side...
He said he gave me his heart and soul.
He said he's not going to leave me or be mad at me
'So, please.. be by my side til the end of time' he asked me.. 'Because the love I have for you won't ever die or fade away.. it only grows.'
But he lied, and broke every promise.. he left me.
