Spring Break pt2

~Chapter Forty-Six~

Leorio and Kurapika were finally free today, meaning the group could go out and actually have some sort of spring break hangout. 

Kurapika was in the kitchen making pancakes for everyone, and the other three were bunched up on seats by the counter as they all talked about random things. One of those things was places they should go. 

"Oh! We should go to the zoo, it's been forever!!" Gon exclaimed with a smile. The others nod with a smile. "Yeah. Well then we have one activity settled. Once we're done with the zoo, what should be next?" Leorio asked. Killua takes a lollipop out of his mouth. (Kid.. it's barely 8:25 am. STOP EATING CANDY.)

"Well, we shouldn't go all crazy on cash considering we wanna get a new house. The zoo is pretty cheap, so I'd say the next place should be a picnic in the park or something," Killua replied with a shrug. "That sounds nice," Kurapika says before snatching Killua's lollipop. "No candy till noon. You know the rules, Killua," Kurapika replied while putting the candy on a napkin. Killua groaned dramatically, causing everyone to laugh a little. 

Once Kurapika finishes cooking breakfast, food is served and the four dig in. It didn't take too long finishing, considering the group was rushing and wanted to get everything together. Kurapika had already prepared a picnic basket, but decided to keep it in the fridge till after the zoo visit. 

And just like that, the four are out and headed to their first destination. They only had to go one town out. There was a zoo in their town, but they figured it'd be nicer to go to the one they went to last time. Kurapika wanted to smother everyone with pictures to compare the ones from last time. 

~~Time Skip~~

Two gas stops later, the group arrives at the zoo. Gon zooms out the car door with a smile, making everyone else smile. As usual, Killua and Gon walk in front of the older couple. It had been a while since the four had gone out to a place like this, so it was nice. 

The soft smell of previous rain drifted through the air as they entered the gates, and they noticed a few changes almost immediately. A few animal exhibits had been moved further back, giving more of a spacious cage for the larger animals. The smaller ones had better space too, but they got moved closer to the front. 

The tree that Killua and Gon rested under last visit was still there, and now it was decorated with small fake butterflies and had a fresh patch of fake grass lying under the tree. Killua drags Gon to the tree as he pulls his phone from his pocket. “Let’s get a picture of us here,” Kil said with a smile. Gon nodded, smiling back. 

“Mom, could you take the picture for us?” Killua says with a grin as he holds his phone out to Kurapika. He and Leorio laugh at the comment, and Kurapika takes the phone from Killua’s hand. “Yeah sure,” he replied with a large smile. 

“Well if Pika’s mom, I’m guessing I’m dad?” Leorio said while wrapping his hand around Kurapika’s waist. Killua laughs. “No way. You’re grandpa!” He replied with obnoxious laughter. Kurapika and Gon started laughing as well. “I’m not that old you guys!” The man replied with a laugh. 

Once the laughter calms down, Kurapika finally gets a picture of the younger couple by the tree. The four then resume walking around, stopping every once and a while to examine the newer additions to the place.
