~Chapter Forty-Eight~

Killua was still wide awake, his thoughts reverting back to every possible scenario. At this point, he had probably planned out seventy-eight different scenes. Before Killua had known it, the sun started to shine through the cracks in the curtains. Killua still had his face buried in Gon's hair. He was glad the boy was able to sleep, even after last night's event.

Killua sighed quietly, slowly sitting up. The room felt colder than usual. He knew the windows were closed, so that wasn't the case. Killua felt his forehead. Of fucking course. He thought tiredly. Even though Killua had been an assassin for a few years, his immune system wasn't all too great when it came down to colds, fevers, or anything on that matter.
(Idek what I'm typing)

Considering Killua was out in the rain, never took a shower, got soaked before going straight outside in the cold, it made sense that those small situations got Killua sick. But that didn't matter. He wasn't going to let Gon find out about it, because then the boy would be trying to take care of Killua. It was Killua's turn to take care of Gon. To smother him with affection, cuddles, and kisses. Killua went back under the blankets, cuddling next to Gon for warmth.

Killua heard Leorio take off for work, the sounds of footsteps and a door opening, followed by a car pulling out of the driveway. Killua made sure he was on high alert at all times. He was still scared. And if he was being honest, just approaching the guy that night had Killua's nerves in a bunch. But he didn't let his fear get to him, which allowed Killua to do what he had done yesterday.

He soon heard Kurapika exit his room, then rustling through the kitchen. Killua was never really this alert in the comfort of his own home, but now all he did was process every little movement. When the curtains had slightly moved earlier, Killua jumped. He realized he was probably being too alert. And very jumpy. Killua sighed as he reached for his phone, remembering that he had never seen Alluka's text.

Allu; Hi big brother! I just wanted to see how you're doing :)

Killu; I'm doing great, everything's great! What about you?
Delivered.

Killua did feel it was wrong to lie to his sister, but everything was just too complicated to explain. Not to mention, Killua didn't have the energy to be honest. Killua sighed again, and before he knew it he was slowly drifting off to sleep. Killua shook his head, slapping himself before sitting up.

He carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake Gon up. He opened the bedroom door, keeping it open so he could see Gon at all times. "Hey Killua," Kurapika greeted. Killua slightly flinched,, only to sigh right after. "Hey," he replied while rubbing his eyes. "You stayed up all night, didn't you?" Kurapika asked. Killua nodded, sitting on the kitchen stool while still keeping his eyes on sleeping Gon.

Kurapika smiled softly, shaking his head. "You should sleep. In the meantime, I'll watch Gon for you," Kurapika replied. Killua paused to think. He knew Kurapika was strong, and trustworthy, yet somehow Killua found himself shaking his head. Kurapika nodded in reply. "Don't worry, I understand,"he said with a reassuring smile.

Kurapika then began making breakfast, and Killua kept his eyes on the bedroom the entire time. Silence filled the kitchen, the only sounds being heard was Kurapika walking around and mixing batter.

Killua heard shuffling from the room and immediately got up, heading over to the room. A sigh of relief exited him as the source of the sound was just Gon sitting up. “Good morning my love,” Killua said as he sat next to his boyfriend. Gon rubbed his eyes, a smile growing on his face as Killua came into vision. “Morning,” the boy replied with a smile, leaning against Killua’s chest.
