A day without Leorio

~Chapter Twenty-four~

It was pretty late, around one in the morning. Killua was woken up by the sounds of Gon mumbling and crying. What the? Kil thought as he faced the still sleeping boy.

As Killua grew a bit worried he gently shook the boy. "Wake up Gon it's okay," He whispered as the boy kept whimpering. Gon soon woke up, sweat and tears covering his face.

Killua pulled the scared boy into a hug, cradling back and forth as he told the boy it was okay. "Let's go get some water, okay?" Killua said as he stood up. Gon nodded, following Killua out of the room.

Gon grabbed the water Kil handed to him, taking a few sips before sitting at the table. "Maybe we can grab a few snacks too," Killua mumbled as he opened the cabinets.

He then put a bunch of chip bags and a few candy bars into a small bowl. The two sat at the table for a little as Gon drank his water. "What was the bad dream about?" Killua asked softly.

Gon looked down, avoiding eye contact. "I don't remember," Gon mumbled in reply. That was a lie. Killua gave a small nod, knowing he should just avoid the topic.

But before he could say something else Kurapika had exited his room. "What are you boys doing up this late? You should both be in bed," Kurapika said sleepily as he grabbed himself a water.

Killua was gonna tell the truth, but the look in Gon's eyes showed that he didn't want Kil to share. "We were just thirsty," Killua said as he hid the bowl of snacks behind himself. Kurapika would be too sleepy to notice anyways.

Kura nodded as he took a sip of his water, then he glanced at the two. "Well you guys should go back to bed," Kurapika spoke before he went to his room. The two nodded.

The boys ran into their room sneaking the snacks, then plopping against the floor. "Why didn't you want to tell Kurapika?" Killua asked, a little confused. Gon stuffed a few chips in his mouth as he turned the tv on, trying to ignore the boy.

Kil repeated the question, waiting for Gon to answer. The boy then glanced at Killua, sighing. "I'm sixteen Killua, getting nightmares is childish.." Gon mumbled under his breath. Killua scooted closer to the boy.

"Everyone gets nightmares, it isn't at all childish!" Killua shouted softly. Gon glanced at the boy with a smile. Killua snatched the remote out of Gon's hand and laughed. "Hey, give it back!" Gon shouted as he tried to reach for it. Killua continued laughing. "Not if you can't get it!"

Their loud laughter ended up waking Leorio, he sighed as he got out of bed carrying a pillow with him. Leorio slowly opened the door, smiling as the two kept goofing off. Then he remembered it was the middle of the night.

He threw the pillow that he brought with him, causing the two boys to play dead. "Keep it down you guys! I have a job interview tomorrow," Leorio groaned as he rubbed his eyes. The boys snickered quietly as they continued playing dead.

Leorio chuckled before walking back into his own room. Kurapika still lay fast asleep with the covers almost off the bed. Leorio quickly pulled them back on the boy before he himself went back to sleep.

Kurapika and the two younger boys were out getting lunch at their favorite diner. Leorio was out on his interview, so the three were just hanging out all over town.

"Our progress reports will be out soon!" Gon exclaimed as he took a bite of his cheeseburger. Kurapika nodded. "I hope you boys have good grades, I don't want you guys failing your last year of highschool," Kurapika replied.
