A guard took us to the cafeteria for dinner. We had spent most of the day locked in our room, only allowed out for meals. No reason was given and we were just expected to go along with it.

Newt was still concerned with me, glued to my side throughout the day. When he thought I wasn't looking, he would study me carefully. Minho had joined in playing bodyguard, hovering over us all day.

I felt fine, other than a persistent dull ache in my arm that seemed to intensify when I tried to think of yesterday. Sleep had done the trick of easing me.

At dinner, we were allowed to head to the cafeteria and eat. Ratman stood at the front of the room, his eyes immediately locking on us as we entered. I could have sworn he was looking at me. He called out names of kids being taken to some sort of farm.

To his right, the boy from last night stood. Even from a distance, I saw his eyes were a bloody red. They were definitely on me, following me as I sat down with the boys.

A sense of déjà vu hit me, pulling me away from the world as I delved deeper into my memory, trying to place him. A nudge against my side caught my attention and I noticed Newt looking at me expectantly.

"Huh?" I asked.

That upset him, though it was only visible in his eyes and the faint tightness around his mouth. "Why are you staring at him?"

"That's the boy I told you about who said to run. He looks familiar," I said, my head turning back to look. "Did we meet him yesterday?"

"No," Newt said tightly, placing his hand on mine where it sat on the table. His fingers slid over my skin, managing to pry open my hand and intertwine our fingers. "Stop looking at him."

A hot shiver ran up my arm from the contact. My eyes shot to his.

"Don't get jealous, love," I whispered to him, if only to fan the fire burning in his dark eyes.

"I'm not."

"Really?"

"Y/n."

A smirk tugged across my mouth. My hand squeezed his tighter to reassure him. I continued to hold his gaze until his dropped to my lips. I met him half way as he leaned in and kissed me.

As we were in public, Newt managed to contain himself by being gentle and soft. Still, the table grumbled in unison.

I felt him smile just before we broke apart.

Tension drained from him as I leaned against him, my head on his shoulder. Against my will, my eyes flicked back to the red eyed boy. He blinked and for several seconds, his eyes didn't seem red. They rolled far back in his head as he looked up at the roof. The amount of exasperation radiating from him was inspiring. He stopped his eye roll and made scrunched his nose at me.

I stared at him, confused why he was suddenly so expressive. He blinked again, the colour returned and his face fell flat.

"Did you see that?" I whispered to my boyfriend.

"See what?" Newt asked, glancing at me.

I held his eyes for a moment before looking away at the other tables. "Nevermind."

"I wanna know what's through the door," Thomas said suddenly, watching as more kids lined up at the call of their names.

"We've been over this. You said they were covered up, so you don't know what you saw," Newt argued, ignoring my hand as it tightened around his. "It could have been anything under there."

Exasperation rolled across Thomas's face, though nothing compared to the red-eyed- boy's. "I know what I saw, they were bodies. Y/n agrees with me, she was there too."
