Alex unleashed another torrent of swearing. "Ember, Felix, stay with them and Archie!"
He took off, running back down the hill. His hands shot up just as missiles launched from the helicopters. Red light bloomed over the camp, taking most of the blast. Explosions of fire rocked the camp, illuminating the people darting around desperately for shelter.
"Come on! We have to help!" Ember yelled, running off without waiting for an answer.
With a glance between us, we hurried after her. Archie trailed behind us, anxiously watching the aircraft.
Guards dropped from the helicopters, starting to shoot people with stun guns. Ember led us through the chaos, ducking down to take cover behind some barrels.
"What do we do?" Minho yelled over the noise.
"We gotta get to Vince and Alex!" Ember pointed at Alex, singling him out in the crowd.
She darted from the shelter, leaving us no choice but to follow. I had no idea where Thomas was, since he hadn't returned from talking with Teresa. I hoped they could get away.
Red shields split the air, holding off the bullets as we reached the car.
"Idiots!" Alex muttered, grabbing Archie and pushing him against the car.
"Harriet! Ammo!" Vince yelled.
A gun was shoved into my hands and I stared at it before I looked at Ember.
"Point and shoot!" she instructed, opening fire with her own.
I did as told, shooting at the approaching guards.
Archie threw out his hands and several of their legs snapped in half. Minho cursed, staring at the kid in horrified amazement.
Moments later, a grenade passed Alex's shields. Vince swore loudly, alluding to where Alex had learn to do so. Electricity exploded from it, shocking us all to the ground.
The soldiers dragged us along to where many other people were being forced into lines. Collars were clamped on all Alex's, Archie's, Ember's and Felix's necks.
Jason emerged from the soldiers, wandering down the line with a red eyed girl. One of the possessed. Austin hovered behind them, smirking at the rows of prisoners.
Mechanical noise filled my ears as a Berg flew into view, whipping up dust and forcing us to close our eyes. It landed heavily, stirring up even more. The door opened, revealing Ava Paige flanked by guards. She strode down without fear, looking at Janson.
The chaos had calmed, the people all captured and on their knees. Soldiers walked between the lines, scanning necks and reading out letters and numbers.
"Is this all of them?" she asked.
"It's enough." Ratman smirked but soon stopped.
Quietly, he said something to her that made her face twist in fear. As she argued back, it was loud enough to hear some of what she was saying.
"—if they're alive...undo everything we've built."
"They will be caught," Janson reassured her.
She didn't look convinced as she turned and surveyed us.
The red eyed girl caught my eye and held it for a second before I looked away, not wanting to pick a fight. Her boots appeared in my vision and she slowly dropped to crouch in front of me. "Where is she?"
"Where's who?" I replied innocently.
Her answer surprised me.
"The Snake, where is she?" Coralie demanded, harshly grabbing my chin to make me look at her. "Is she with Y/n?"
