Y/n's POV

I tugged Newt behind some rocks. My arms slid around his neck, holding him closer as he gripped my waist. My hand cupped his neck drawing him down until our foreheads connected.

Somehow, he was more attractive now. Perhaps it was the month apart, or the growing darkness within me, but he was more beautiful than ever. My hand slid into his hair, running the soft locks through my fingers.

Newt's eyes fluttered closed, a sigh leaving his lips, hand flexing on my waist.

"What did you wanna talk about?" Newt asked, opening those gorgeous eyes full of emotion, the ones I'd fallen for.

"Definitely not talk," I whispered and closed the gap between us.

The gentle brush of his lips against mine, filled me with relief. The love of my life had returned to my arms whole and safe. I kissed him harder, trying to convey to him the depth of my love and strength of my promise to protect him. Newt groaned against my mouth, the sound vibrating though my soul. My hand slid along his chiseled jawline, marvelling at the feel of his warm, smooth skin under my deadly hand. We stumbled until his back pressed against the rough surface of the rock. Strong hands gripped me, holding me close against the firm reality of his presence with me. They slide under my shirt, tracing burning lines wherever they went, making my knees week.

The minute we broke apart, I moved down to his neck, placing kisses right over his pulse.

"What is he to you?" Newt gasped, pulling me harder against him. His palms flattened against the small of my back, eradicating space between us.

"Who?" I mumbled against his skin. Heat flooded my body as his hand slid up. Words were failing me, as was my ability to foster coherent thoughts that weren't fueled by an all consuming need for him.

"Élliot."

The name pushed me back enough to hold his gaze. In his eyes I saw his fear of losing me again, the bitter jealousy directed towards one of the most dangerous people I had ever encountered. Gently, I pressed one of my hands to his chest, right over his heart. "No one. He's no one."

Newt dipped his head, recapturing my lips for another kiss. "Good," he said in between as my hand slid into his hair, threading strands between my fingers.

My head tilted back as he pressed kisses to my neck. His name fell from my lips. "Newt..."

"What?" Newt asked, pausing. His hand was half way up my back, hot over my bare skin, the furthest he'd ever dared to go before.

The words became lodged in my throat at the sight of love plain on his face. My hands cradled his face gently. "I love you."

Newt smiled as blindingly as the Scorch's sun. "I love you too."

I grinned back at him. "Good that."

He returned to giving my neck his attention. "What did he say to you?"

"That I could always go there," I answered, tilting my head back to allow him all the access he desired.

"To him? He wants you?"

I hummed dreamily, lost in the familiar, comforting feel of his mouth on me. "It seems like it. I don't want him, I want you."

"You have me."

I laughed, leaning to rest my head on his collarbone. "I know I do."

You are far too good for me, I thought.

Nik hopped to his feet as we made our way back. Alex rose as well, setting a bowl down on the rock next to him.
