Warnings: horrible jokes, pain description, awkward moments filled by elevator music, blood mentions, threats, kidnapping, violence

Several days later.

"Does everyone remember the plan?" Vince asked for what had to be the hundredth time. He worried his hands together, watching Wicked's spotlights sweep over the desert surrounding the building.

"We've been over it a dozen times," I complained, stretching a muscle in my neck. "In pairs, we sneak into the building. I'll first take out the cameras and then we'll steal food and water."

"Good," Vince said and then narrowed his eyes. "You forgot the part where you get in and out without anyone the wiser. No showy, dramatic or risky acts."

"When am I doing any of those things?" I countered.

Nik scoffed, kneeling next to me. "The fish wielding Cranks, Crank batteries and that night in general when Wicked attacked. The whole self-sacrifice thing of cutting the rope. The time with the sand people—"

"Okay, I get it," I interrupted, smacking his shoulder lightly. "In my defence, the urge to be chaotic runs in the Y/l/n blood."

"Can we go back to the fish wielding Cranks?" Newt interrupted as Vince and Alex nodded in agreement. "Did no one hear about the fish wielding Cranks?"

I winked at him in response as our focus returned to the heist. "Ready Felix?"

Felix paled several shades as he nodded.

Newt helped me to my feet and pecked a kiss on my lips. His hands idly clutched my lower back. "Be careful."

"Always am."

Nik snorted and resisted my glare. "Do you want a list of all the times when you weren't?"

"Nah, we'll be here until sunrise."

Felix shook his hands out, clearly growing more nervous by the minute.

I stepped away from Newt and put my hand on his shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, you're going with me. Though I will understand if you're worried about the boys."

Nik and Alex both opened their mouths to protest against that but I was already pulling Felix down the hill.

Together, we half slid down to the bottom. I spent a second to weave an illusion over us before we started to run. Wind picked up behind us, erasing our footprints as we got closer and closer to the building.

Felix released a shaky breath as we pressed against the cold concrete. I grabbed his arm and with my free hand, flicked it. Wind lifted us up to the top of the building. My other ability flicked out, scanning for cameras but there were none.

"Ready?" I whispered, quickly locating the vent we planned for.

"No," Felix whispered back but followed me anyway.

It took barely a second to remove the covering.

The two security guards were oblivious as I dropped silently into the room.

"Hello boys," I said.

They both spun, reaching for their guns.

Unfortunately for Wicked, the soldiers were no challenge and the pair were unconscious within ten seconds. I'd already erased their memories. No one would suspect anything other than they had just fallen asleep.

My ability slipped into the network, ordering it to loop the cameras. When I was done, I went back into the vent where Felix was waiting for me already.

"Cameras are done," I whispered into the radio.

Felix led the way to the storage room. I pushed the vent open and stuck my head out. Grey boxes, presumably holding food were lined on shelves.
