Warnings: insanity, mention of death, kissing.

“Okay,” I said and sat down, crossing my legs. “Come here, sit.”
Archie sat down in front of me, and I held eye contact until my ability worked. As soon as I entered his mind, a wave of voices swarmed me. Most screaming murder. I left and Archie looked sick.
“They don’t like you,” he said. Aaliyah sat down next to him and held his hand. “Am I going to go insane like you?”
“No, there is a way I can save you,” I said.
“But you said there’s no way for anyone to save you,” Archie said.
“I can’t save myself but I can save you. It would mean you wouldn’t have your ability. I would have to take it away to stop you from going insane.”
“Could you have saved Élliot? He was corrupt, right?” Archie asked.
I flinched at his name. “I could have, Élliot didn’t want to be saved. He knew he was going to die, he also knew that if I took his abilities, I would go insane quicker.”
“So you’ll take my ability but you’ll go insane quicker?” Archie said.
“It doesn’t matter, I’ve made a deal with her. I’ve got two days and then I’m gone, if I take your power it won’t affect anything.”
The Wraith would want to use it, though.
“Okay,” Archie said. “What do I do?”
“Stay still so I can turn off your pain receptors and not feel anything,” I did it and started to drain him of his ability.
I felt myself getting stronger and the distant maniacal laughter of the Wraith. I checked his mind again once I was done. It was quiet.
“Better?” I asked.
“It’s so…quiet.”
I smiled at both of them. “All right, get outta here.”
“Thank you!” Archie yelled over his shoulder as they raced off.
As soon as they were gone, I sank back against the ground. Exhaustion washed over me, nearly pulling me under. The new ability took a moment to settle in, finding its place amongst the others and merging with them.
The lights went out suddenly, leaving me in darkness. I struggled to my feet, starting for the camp. In the distance, panicked voices called out to each other. I hurried the rest of the way, nearly tripping over a branch.
Thomas and Vince stood out on the beach, staring off at something. Two Bergs flying over city ruins, looking for the Right Arm. Vince started walking back, and I joined him.
“Are they coming more frequently?” I asked.
Vince sighed and turned to me, “I’m sorry.”
“For what?” I didn’t bother to look at him.
“For being awful to you, for earlier, for anything else I might’ve done,” Vince said, sounding guilty.
“It’s fine, I forgive you,” I said, surprised that I actually meant it.
I saw no point hanging onto any anger before I died in two days.

I sat with Bella and Leo while we ate dinner. I could see Ember flirting with Newt. He looked rather uncomfortable, and so did everyone else in that group. Ember occasionally shot smirks at me when no one was looking.
“Do you think anyone would care if she just disappeared?” I asked my friends.
“Y/n, we’ve talked about this,” Leo said, without looking up from his food.
“I wouldn’t care,” Bella said flatly.
The tension between them was starting to drive me insane. I shot a look at him, and he shook his head. Bella remained completely oblivious.
“So, uh,” Leo started, “Enjoying the food.”
I groaned internally and stood up.
Élliot squinted at them, “How didn’t I notice this when I was alive?”
“I honestly don’t know,” I replied as I walked off.
“Where are you going?” Bella called.
I approached the other group. They all paused to look at me. I shrugged awkwardly and took a seat next to Alex. Alex raised an eyebrow at me. The others just stared at me.
“The tension was unbearable,” I continued eating.
Newt offered me a small smile that made my heart speed up. I looked away, not wanting to deal with that. I wondered where Élliot had vanished off to. Someone appeared behind me.
“Boo!”
I choked on my food and spilt some on myself.
“Ow,” I complained and wiped it off me. Chuck grinned at me. “Why?”
“It was funny,” Chuck floated around.
I rolled my eyes and realised everyone was staring at me. “What?”
“Nothing,” Thomas looked back at his food.
Two other ghosts appeared with Chuck, both adults.
“These are my parents,” Chuck answered my unsaid question. “I wanted to show them the statue I carved for them. Thomas still has it. Could you ask him for it?”
“Hey, Thomas?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“Do you still have that little wooden statue? The one Chuck made?” I asked. He frowned at me but rummaged through his pocket until he found it. He handed it to me and I held it flat on my hand for Chuck’s parents to see.
“That’s adorable,” his mother said, wrapping an arm around him.
“Very good, it’s a shame I can’t touch it,” his father reached down, his hand went through it.
“Why do you need it?” Thomas asked.
I went to respond but Chuck started talking.
“Y/n, could you let him know that I’m with my parents and I’m happy?” Chuck asked me.
I handed it back to him, “Chuck’s parents wanted to see it. He said to tell you he’s with them now and he’s happy.”
Thomas stared at me bewildered, I noticed the ghosts were gone. I continued eating and pretended nothing had happened. I turned to look back at Leo and Bella. They were awkwardly talking, Leo caught my eye.
“Tell her,” I mouthed. He shook his head at me. “Tell her or I hypnotise you to do it,” I mouthed and tapped the side of my eye.
Leo looked back to Bella.
“Crétin,” I muttered and returned to my food.
“Crétin,” Élliot corrected, appearing in time to catch that.
“I said that,” I protested.
“No, you didn’t say it right, crétin,” he repeated the exact same way I had said it.
“Crétin,” I repeated.
“No, crétin,” he said again.
“I give up,” I replied. Everyone was staring at me again. “Stop looking at me and let me go crazy in peace.”
Élliot sat down next to me, and I made a face at him. I glanced back over my shoulder.
“Finally,” I muttered.
Bella and Leo were kissing.
I smiled happily and turned back around. More ghosts appeared, and I groaned in response.
“I never get a moment of peace anymore,” I complained.
They hesitated, the blonde woman looked at the man.
“What is it?” I asked.
“It’s kind of unsettling watching you talk to someone we can’t see,” Aris commented, sitting next to Sonya.
“Shut up,” I replied and looked back at the ghosts.
“We’re Sonya and Newt’s parents,” the woman said.
I froze and slowly looked between Sonya and Newt. I studied both of them carefully.
“Oh, I see it,” I mumbled. Both of them looked rather uncomfortable. “Should I tell them?”
“Please,” said the man.
“Sonya, Newt,” I paused, both of them stared at me. “You are siblings.”
Both of them stared blankly at me.
“What?” Newt said after a moment. “How do you know?”
“Uh,” I looked at the ghosts and then at Élliot. “Your parents just told me.”
They both looked at each other.
“I’m gonna go,” I said, getting up.
“You can’t just…” Sonya trailed off and looked at Newt again. “Is he really my brother?”
“If they are to be believed, then yes,” I answered and walked off.
