Warnings: threats, angst, fighting, mentions of murder and torture

"I'm going back, feel free to break his bones if he does something." I went to run but Newt grabbed my arm. "I'll be back in a few minutes, okay?"

He didn't look so sure, but I kissed him quickly and took off.

As I crawled through the vent over the large central area of the facility, I heard a crash. A triage of colour flared through the grate.

Alex and Nik were in the middle of fighting the Phoenix. They made an excellent team with their abilities, Alex protecting Nik as he attacked the Phoenix.

I pushed it open and climbed through. Lightning burned around me, digging deeper to find the little energy I had left. Air softened my fall and I sprung up, dodging a fireball.

"Time to go!" I yelled at them, creating illusions of us around the room running.

We did, hearing the Phoenix's angry scream as she shot fireball after fireball. I skidded to a stop at the elevator and pressed the up button.

"What are you doing?" Alex hissed, snatching my arm to pull me along.

"She won't think of it," I argued and got in as the doors opened.

They followed me and I forced the doors to shut behind us. The awful background music played as we ascended, causing Nik to stifle a giggle. The elevator stopped before we reached the top floor. Alex gave me a look as he lifted his hands.

The doors slid open to reveal Teresa.

Her dark hair curled around her face as she stared down at one of Wicked's tablets. She walked in, not even looking up as she fumbled for the ground floor button. The doors slid shut, locking us in with her.

I cleared my throat and she glanced up. Shock ripped across her face as she yelped, the tablet flying from her hands and cracking against the floor. She slammed into the closed elevator doors, staring at us.

"That looked important," I said, the tablet lifted from the ground to my hands. The screen was entirely broken.

Teresa didn't speak, growing more pale and green by the second.

"I thought we were friends Teresa." I dropped the charade of indifference. "How could you do this to us—to Thomas?"

The elevator light flickered overhead and Nik placed a warning hand on my shoulder.

Teresa's eyes began to water. "I had to! We have to find—"

"We have to find a cure," I finished, taking a slow step towards her. "My parents died because of that statement. My baby sister is dead because of that statement!"

Teresa sobbed, her proud head drooping. "I sorry—"

"I've been betrayed so many times," I told her softly. "Coralie, my uncles, James and Livia....and now you."

She pressed a shaking hand to her face, furiously wiping away tears that were only falling heavier. "I'm only doing what I think is right."

I pressed the button to the next floor and the elevator stopped. The doors open, making her fall back to the floor. She crawled back as I strode out.

"Where's Minho?" I demanded, glancing either way down the corridor.

"I don't know," Teresa wailed.

Nik didn't need a further prompt past the look I gave him. He placed a hand against her temple.

"Resist and it'll hurt more," he warned her as he entered her mind.

Agonising seconds turned into minutes until he stood up and shook his head.
