Warnings: angst, pain, crying, blood
The Wraith’s laughter grew louder as my control over myself slipped. Shadows surged around me.
“Y/n!” Thomas yelled.
I screamed as the pain burned through me. A spark of an idea lit up.
‘It’s time,’ sang the Wraith.
‘No.’
‘What do you mean, no?’
‘I mean, no.’
I pushed her back, not in my mind but the ability out of me. Like I’d done earlier to Alex. The Wraith screamed and tried to hold on. It felt like I was being torn in half. The Wraith seemed to drag my other abilities with her as I forced her out. Élliot’s form flickered
“No!” I screamed, stopping.
The Wraith surged back, overwhelming my defence.
“Y/n, you have to let go,” Élliot said.
The ghosts of my parents and friends appeared.
“No!” I cried again.
“Y/n/n, it’s okay,” my mother assured me, tears slipped down her face.
“Let go,” my father said.
“See ya,” Kei said, waving sadly.
I started forcing her out again. Pain ripped through me once more. Élliot knelt in front of me. I summoned his jacket so I wouldn’t lose it.
“I love you,” he whispered and smiled at me.
I couldn’t say anything. The pain nearly rendered me useless. He faded away. I let out a sob that was more like a scream. My friends smiled. Alby, Winston, Zart and Chuck. Teresa flickered a short distance away. She watched Thomas sadly.
“Bye Y/n,” Chuck said before he disappeared.
My friends slowly faded away, and I forced myself to look at my parents. They both smiled at me.
“Goodbye Y/n, we’ll see you again,” my mother promised me.
“You’ve done well, Y/n. We’re so proud of you,” my father said.
And then they were gone.
I collapsed. My mind was eerily quiet. Was she gone?
I crawled back to Thomas.
“Hey,” I croaked.
“What just happened?” he mumbled, dreadfully pale from blood loss.
“Gave my roommate an eviction notice and kicked her out.”
“Mm,” said Thomas, eyes half closed.
I tried to use my ability to help me get him up but nothing happened. They were all gone.
“Okay, we have a problem.”
“What problem?”
“I can’t use my abilities to get us down. We can’t go down the staircase either,” I stared at the fire that was spilling through the door crack.
A Berg rose up into view, blinding white lights focused on us. I stared at Jorge through the window. Brenda stood next to him. The Berg turned around, the back door opening. Vince leaned out.
“Come on!” he yelled.
Minho, Fry and the others with him as well as Bella and Leo. Lillian was here, too. Newt, Alex and Nikolai weren’t there. Newt must be dead. Alex and Nikolai were probably somewhere in the city. Grief made it hard but I dragged Thomas up.
“Come on, Thomas,” I huffed as we stumbled towards the edge of the building.
“Come on!” Minho yelled and reached his hand out.
“Thomas! Give me your hand!” Vince yelled.
Thomas reached out. It was still too far.
“Get closer!” Minho yelled to Jorge. Jorge got closer.
“Jump!” Vince yelled.
“Get closer!” I yelled.
Thomas managed to grab Vince’s hand.
“Yeah! Pull him up!” he yelled and the others helped him.
An explosion rocked the building next to us and it fell, slamming into this one. I was knocked to the ground. Jorge drifted up slightly from the building for a moment before coming back.
“Y/n!” Vince yelled, holding out his hand.
“Y/n! Come on!” Bella yelled.
I threw Élliot’s jacket to them.
Leo stared at me, horror bleeding onto his face as he realised what I was going to do.
I couldn’t risk it. If the Wraith was still here it would mean disaster. I got back on my feet and stumbled back from the edge.
“Y/n? Come on!” Minho yelled.
“Y/n!” Lillian cried.
I locked eyes with her. I gave her a smile. The building gave way beneath my feet. Lillian screamed as I fell. I closed my eyes and let myself fall into endless sleep.700 words
