Albus

"Al, have you seen my wand?" I jumped hearing Teddy's voice in my room. He'd grown so much over the years. Tall and still blue in the head. A grown man with a scruff around his jaw that he'd shave every now and then. I remembered how devastated he was when he graduated and I began school. He said he wanted me around so he could show me the ropes.

When he found out that I'd been put into Slytherin, the first thing he said was.

"Its fun. Let's be diverse. I was Hufflepuff, James is Gryffindor, you're Slytherin and hopefully, my little clever Lil is Ravenclaw. The Potter house could be the new Hogwarts."

I'd laughed at that. The only joke and compliment about my shocking choice of house that'd made me smile. Even my father couldn't manage that. It wasn't his fault though. My dad's. He just didn't know what the right thing was to say, just like I didn't. Mum was always neutral but never let him hurt me too dire and the same other way around.

"Earth to Al." Teddy called and I popped out his wand from his hand and tossed it across the room at him. He deadpanned, "How many times have I told you to stop drumming with my wand."

"Maybe a few more times." I shrugged and he shook his head, "Where's mum and dad?"

"Urgent matter at the Ministry."

"Urgent?" I straightened, "Is it regarding Mum's trial?" The sweat grew in volume in the nape of my neck and my body turned cold.

A few months ago, news came out that the senior chaser of the Hollyhead Harpies was a werewolf. She was being investigated and neither her, nor dad were aware of it. When dad found out, he'd stood up and chose to fight the Ministry's accusations on her. I couldn't believe this was happening, given aunt Hermione was the Minister for Magic. She reasoned however that she couldn't show favoritism or her authority would be questioned. Aunt Hermione wasn't exactly family when it came to work. She always remained unbiased and acted like the Ministry as she should be. I just worried for mum. She'd always been such a kind person, not to mention a great contributor to the clubs of Quidditch selections. Many children who wanted to learn Quidditch out of school, she'd donated hundreds of galleons to help keep the camps up, so those who couldn't afford the camps could still learn. She'd helped with the Ministry projects, many of them. Because of her, many celebrities had been saved from being defamed by bad press and on top of all of that, she always offered help with the aurors, now being a trainer for all the apprentices chosen by many wizards. She led those teams and was involved in many situations.

Even, now at forty-one, she was always active. She deserved better. I knew she did. And it boiled my blood to think that many wizards didn't see that in the moment.

By the fall in Teddy's mood, I could tell my money was spot on.

"How're you handling things?" I asked, sliding out of bed, tucking my wand in the waist band of my trousers.

"I'm fine." He smirked.

"Come on, Teddy. You and Victoire just snapped away."

"We didn't snap away... exactly."

"Teddy." I frowned.

"I don't know, Al." He sighed, dropped his head by the door frame beside him, "I... she just... she wants to be around me. I know she cares for me but, have you seen our lives? Don't you remember what happened?"

"You mean at Hogwarts?"

"Yes. They came for me in specific. Our lives, they're all upside down. One problem comes and the other is still going away." He gulped.
