Albus

I was headed to Professor Mcgonagall's office for my session at the Ministry when just by the entrance to the gargoyle, I heard my name being yelled out. I turned and found Scorpius, Rose, and Candice running for me. It was Candice who'd called.

"Thank God we caught you." Candice huffed and tackled me with a hug. I snickered, wrapping confused arms around her waist. She wasn't wearing her robe so she seemed tinier than usual.

"Why?"

"We just wanted to wish you luck." Rose smiled.

"Yeah. Hopefully it isn't as painful as they say it in the books." Scorpius winked and Candice moved away.

"You're prepared, right?" She gulped.

"Yes. I'm ready." I assured her, "Your dad will be there. So will mine. I'll live through."

"Uh-huh. We'll see about that." She moved back, catching her breath, "For now, good luck."

"Thanks." I nodded and gave the password before it turned for me.

The floo connection dropped me into an office. Black walls and a single round brown table. Behind the table sat Sir Feckle Henris while Dad and Uncle Eddie stood by the fireplace. I met them crawling out and dad gave me a small nod.

"Ready?" He asked. I was not. I was really not. My stomach was churning and by now every bone in my body was vibrating.

"Yep." I grinned, nervously and looked away.

"The Series of Trials that will take place will start with some active tests. We will be analyzing your strength on hand. You may not use your wand and fight solely on your person." I looked up at dad and he had small lift on the visible corner of his lip. The man knew I could do some magic without a wand so maybe that could be used? I had to clarify. I couldn't mess this up, for mum's sake. Just then, dad looked down at me and my brows furrowed. He blinked and I grinned. He squeezed my shoulder and we turned back to Sir Henris.

"You will be fighting on hand with a Wipperwood Snake."

My eyes widened.

What in the Dumbledore's hell?

"Excuse me, sir, if I may." Uncle Ed intervened, "That is high level training that we usually conduct after the candidate has had their first transformation. At this rate, Mr. Potter might not make it out of the first test."

"I hear you, Mr. Gideon but we are at a shortage of time." He grinned. That bastard. He had a plan of failing me in the first place. I should've known.

"Fine. I'm ready."

Dad's nails dug in my shoulder.

"Albus..." Uncle Eddie started. I glared at him.

"I can do it. When is it?"

"Next week Saturday. For now, you must write your test." He instructed, standing up, "Dismissed." And he left the small office, leaving me alone with Dad and Uncle Eddie.

"My office." Dad spoke and we headed for the floo connection. In a single call we were landing in his office and Uncle Eddie marched ahead with fingers running through his once perfect hair.

"What were you thinking, Al?" He asked frustrated.

I looked up at Dad, who was quiet.

"I had to. That jerk wants me to fail. He wants me to fail and put mum in. I've read about him. He hates werewolves. I should've known first hand." Albus bit out and Uncle Ed had a slightly surprised look on his face, not one that showed confusion about the revelation but the one that clearly asked how did he find out. All credit went to his friends. Scorpius and Candice. They'd read upon his trials and figured much out for him to be able to carry on. Of course, he didn't want to disclose their names yet, given that Scorpius lingered in a gray area with the Ministry and Candice was Uncle Ed's daughter.
